Stopped in for lunch on our drive back to Florida and have to say it was well worth stopping. Food came relatively quick. All... was super delicious, especially the crispy hush puppies and sweet potato waffle fries which is huge in my opinion. As we are traveling, this was our first visit to Fat Jack's. Our service was good. I ordered the chicken tenders with green... beans and a baked sweet potatoe. All arrived hot, which goes a long way with me. I felt like my tenders were slightly overcooked and had more breading than I care for. That being said, it tasted good and that is just my personal opinion. My husbandordered the Seafood pasta. Description says it is in garlic sauce, so my husband was expecting a butter garlic sauce. Insteadit was in more of an Alfredo sauce. He doesn't care for that. Just needs to be clearer in menu description. Overall we felt itwas ok with good service. My husband and I were looking for a yummy and unique restaurant with healthier options on our way to Florida from Virginia. We... took exit 57 because it looked like it had a lot of restaurants so we figured we'd see if we could find a nice place to try.Pulled into the Walmart parking lot to pull up our maps and check around us. We saw Fat Jack's as we pulled in. I barely glancedat the menu before we decided this was the place to try. We got seated right away (visited on a Thursday night at 7) and orderedour drinks and food pretty quickly. Didn't have to wait long and oh my goodness I wish I lived closer so i could try everythingelse. It was hands down the best steak I've ordered at a restaurant in years (please don't be too harsh if you order steak andit's not the best steak ever when you try...everyone has good and bad days....I was also very hungry when we stopped ????). myhusband got the grilled scallops, collards, green beans and hushpuppies. I ordered my steak cooked medium (cooked perfectly), asweet potato and fried okra. EVERYTHING was DELICIOUS!!! And I also ordered 2 mixed drinks. One called Frozen Alligator and oneLava Flow. The Frozen Alligator was a surprising new and different drink I've never tried before. The Lava Flow was verydelicious too but similar to drinks I e had before so the Frozen Alligator was my favorite!! My husband loved their classicmargarita. Very happy we stopped here!! Our waitress was so sweet and fun to talk to!! I wish I remembered her name. We talkedabout travel and her fun fishing trip in Florida. She was awesome!! I had the shrimp and grits while my husband had a cheeseburger. His was ok, nothing to write home about. Mine was edible but not... what I expected. The grits were sour tasting and chunky. And the fried onion straws on top were stale. Hope they weren't justhaving an off night but sadly we won't be trying Fat Jack's again. Read more
Disappointed. Was highly recommended, but didn?t live up to the recommendation. Went for lunch to try out their... burgers. Astonishing fast service. Faster than fast food. I?m not even going to speculate on that. I personally had a black andblu burger, supposed to have bacon, pepper jack, blue cheese, Cajun spice. No flavor/spice taste. As you can see in the 2ndpicture I?ve included, the one with onion rings on top of the burger, about 1/3 of my burger patty was missing and not replaced. Sweet potato fries were also lacking. Topped off by sub-par service. When food was delivered, waitress asked if I?d like morecoffee. Said she?d be right back. Never returned with coffee or to check our order. Had to flag her down for the check. Spokewith hostess about service. Asked her to relay to server that she had received a 10% tip instead of a 30% tip. Read more
Definately worth a visit. Very local, full bar and has been in this place for 20yrs+ . We showed up at 9 and they close at 10.... We were seated promptly and our server was very polite and nice - Ms. Skylar. I ordered Chicken tenders plate with coleslaw andpotato salad. He ordered a philly cheesesteak with fries. I have to say they have the best ever slaw. It was done the rightsouthern way as we're potato salad. Slaw was even served with crackers. Yep. Tenders could use a bit of flavor but theydefinately very freshly cooked. His philly was very tasty well be back. Rr could use a a bit of tlc and upkeep. Read more
