Chinese restaurant masquerading as a seafood restaurant. Fried rice and shrimp was excellent. The fried haddock is skinny... chunks of fish that could fit on a Hamburger roll. They are mostly breading. I think the fish sandwich at McDonald's is a goodcomparison. I also ordered the scallops thinking I was getting sea scallops. I got those over battered buffet quality scallops.They had no taste what so ever. No cocktail only ketchup and tarter. Mozzarella sticks and hush puppies weren't too bad. Despite the bad reviews, our party of 5 had a great meal at this restaurant. The portions were very large, especially with the... fried food options, and the prices for fried options were very reasonable. The scallops and snow crab I ordered wereappropriately priced, delicious and a very large portion - including 9-10 scallops! The staff gave us everything we needed forthe meal, including substitutions for allergies. They didn't have salad available, which was a shame, but we had enough food! Read more
Definitely a lot of food for the price. Not worth it though because the food was wayy too salty. Couldn?t really enjoy or finish... it all because of the high salt content. First time going there?.ordered fried scallops & it was more like tofu. Also ordered a seafood bag & the sauce for it was bland,... tasted more like just butter. I wanted to love this place. The concept is amazing, but everything about it was terrible. One small mushy potato and a half ear... of withered, overcooked corn in your ?boil?. We ordered blue shell crabs and snow crabs. The blue shells were borderline (if notdownright) illegally small and so over cooked that there was nothing but residue in all the shells. Not a drop of meatwhatsoever. I politely brought this to their attention immediately and was told that all blue shells are like this. The snowcrab was decent, but the butter was obviously not real. It tasted heavily of oil and did not ?separate? during the 45 minutes wewere there. See the pictures at the end of our meal of the ?butter?. I never leave reviews, but was blown off in restaurant. STOP TIPPING YOURSELF! This place was my go-to seafood boil for a while until my last visit. My wife and I ordered the family... special to which it came out unusual fast. Then I noticed the crayfishs were very cold compared to everything else. I'm assumingthey were frozen precooked and they didnt bake or boil it long enough to be hot. Everything else was good, just a weirdcombination of hot and cold food. The thing that got me upset was the waiter tipping herself on the bill when it was just me andmy wife eating. I understand if it was a party of 6 or more but that wasn't thr case. I ended up paiding the tip as my farewellto the restaurant. Unless they change this behavior, I will be going to Hook&Reel.
