Your 5-Star Review It was much better than I expected. After my meal, I was knocked into a food coma. The waitress was prompt... and polite. The entrees are simply to die for. I would eat here every day if I could afford it! Read more

Stopped in to eat breakfast food for a late lunch. I have to say the breakfast sandwich was exceptional. The biscuit was fluffy... and the sausage patty was clearly not of the premade frozen variety. The hash browns were not my cup of tea, but I don't preferthe shredded type anyways. I also got a few bites of the ham steak and it was juicy and tender. Last but not least was a sliceof the peach crumble pie. I can understand why Cowan's is known for their pie. It was a massive slice and enough for two peopleto share. Every bite was good including the crust around the edge. If you're in the area the pie as lone warrants a stop in. Igot lucky and they went busy, but I've been told they get slammed at dinner time. I ate all the food before I remembered to take pictures ???? ????... but this little gem is it. In the Downtown Washington, MO... Cowan's is a cute little breakfast lunch spot. It definitely is worth stopping in and getting your grub on. I order the 10ozRibeye Steak with Fried Okra and Salad and Baked Potato, steak cooked to perfection. Corn Nibblets oooweee.. yes please! Myfriend ordered one of the Salads and enjoyed it too. I really enjoyed this place! And they have pies! Read more

I usually have at least a couple of little flaws to share about the establishments I visit because I want to be helpful towards... people traveling so they know what to expect (keeping in mind that restaurant workers sometimes have bad days, so only when it?ssomething pretty serious). But this place? I was totally blown away. The menu has a very flavorful end unique selection. Ingoing there with my family, we collectively ordered: - Fried mushrooms, fried jalapeño macaroni and cheese bites asappetizers - The Sweet Baby Ray?s pork chop dinner with onion rings, a biscuit, and baked apples - For my toddler, baked beansand baked apples (very much so toddler approved, and they have a full kid?s menu!) - Country fried chicken sandie with friedokra - The roast beef dinner with brown gravy, a biscuit, macaroni and cheese (white cheddar I believe), and mashed potatoeswith gravy. - The Big Dipper Sandie (extra lean roast beef, horseradish sauce, American Swiss, and au jus to dip) with pickledbeets and German potato salad. Our food was very good, the service was nice, and we felt very welcomed and comfortable! Read more
