Had been wanting to try Patty O?s since they opened, and finally made a trip last week for dinner. Overall, I was disappointed... by the experience. The ambiance was nice. The food and drinks were well executed, if slightly on the smaller side for the foodportions. Not a huge deal. The service, however, left much to be desired. Our server was clearly trying, but it was obviousthat she did not possesses the experience or ability to manage her section. Our drinks did not arrive until after we hadfinished with our appetizer. We ordered coffee and dessert together. I asked for a latte, but was told it would take a longtime because the espresso machine was located in the bakery, and the bakery was closed. The bakery and the restaurant areconnected by a hallway and i could see the espresso machine from my table. So I am unsure what the issue was, but I didn?t careto find out and ordered a regular coffee. It didn?t arrive until well after we had finished dessert. Several tables nearbyalso seemed to experience delays or issues of various types, and the table next to us spoke with the manager several times. Thebar clearly had an issue that needs to be addressed as long wait times for drinks seemed to be a common theme. We did not feelthe need to pile on the server who was clearly struggling. Our meal came to a somewhat comical end when we were presented withthe bill and told that the service charge was included, even though we were a party of 2. This is a non-standard practice andit is not made sufficiently clear on the physical menu nor on the website. I don?t have a problem with it in theory, but if youare going to automatically charge people for service, your service better be on point. I honestly expected better from aPatrick O?Connell establishment and i?ll certainly think twice before I ever spend the substantial sum to eat at the Inn. Iwon?t be back to Patty O?s anytime soon. This place is a neat little cafe ran by the same chef as The Inn and it was just as delicious. We tried the baked goods one... morning and went for lunch the next day and we?re impressed both times. The decor is fun and staff super pleasant. Read more

Great location about an hour outside WDC. Great Sunday drive and a great brunch in the other Washington in Virginia. The pull... pork sandwich was awesome. And the Greek salad is a must starter. We were also treated to live bluegrass music anunanticipated gift. I cannot wait to return to this wonderful restaurant. Read more

I visited here for a couple of times during the lunch. The cafe space is connected with Patty O's bakery in a little historical... town called Washington. There is a nice open patio in front of the building; you get to see all the historical buildings around, including the Inn at Little Washington. Although the patio is facing the main street of the town, traffic is very mild, so itshould not bother you. The indoor is also nice, and I personally liked the seating that I got to see the classy andnot-large-but-effective bar. I would recommend either indoor or outdoor depending on the weather and how busy it is. I enjoyedtrying various starter menus to keep it light lunch for us. My favorite was Tuna Tartare, which is layered with mango andavocado, with yuzu sorbet, especially on a warm summer day. Its sauce put mango with slightly firmer texture, together with tunaand avocado. Everyone was professional, yet friendly, and their service was comfortably light, which we loved because we got tokeep our privacy; Unlike some other places with too many visits, and sometimes too many recommendations for upsells. The pricewas also very friendly considered the restaurant is also ran by Patrick O'Connell from the Inn. Additionally, I really loved howthey put the service fee into my bill, so they ran my card without needing me to sign. I didn't have to use my brain thinking ifI needed to add more tip or calculate. The great addition to the cafe is its surrounding as I mentioned earlier. After thedinner, you could take a little walk around the farm behind the Tavern Shop across the street. There, you may get to see somegoats, chickens, and llamas, and its garden is beautifully taken care of. Read more

Fantastic! Grits and shrimp! Escargot! Open faced avocado sandwich plate. If you aren?t going to launch into their extensive... bar offerings try their iced tea. We just happened upon this place mid-afternoon and what a find! Casual elegance probablybest describes the place. I bet it?s packed at night. Worth a visit. Between lunch and dinner seems optimal. A ?must? in theShenandoah. The excellent food and service comes at a price however so if you are looking for cheap grub, this place is not foryou. Read more

Walk in or call ahead to be put on the list for a table. Was not too crowded when we were there (Friday night) so we're sat... easily (can be cool inside the restaurant so ladies bring a wrap). The duck pate with port wine was outstanding, you may needextra bread the serving size is ample. The beet salad with fresh citrus is light and refreshing. The escargot were verygarlicky and meaty, just be careful not to burn your fingers (was not given anything to hold the shells while eating them). Forour entrees we had the mushroom bolognese, which was rich and hearty and the steelhead trout which had a fabulous butter dillsauce. The key lime pie to finish was good as it was not too sweet. Really nice service, eyegasmic bakery treats, but unfortunately, much like Little Inn at Washington (which is one of the most... overrated Michelin restaurants I have ever been to out of 135 total), is overpriced and seemingly unable to hit peak flavors. The lemon and pistachio tart looks like a work of art, but the lemon wasn't, well, tart enough. The carrot cake was alsogorgeous to look at but the texture was strangely sponge-y and not sweet enough. The bourbon chocolate pecan tart is good buttiny, about 1/3 the size of the carrot cake slice for some reason (they should really align these). And the chocolate carameldisk was even tinier than the tart, and just not worth the price. I've always had the impression that the restaurant (fromexperience) and inn are way overpriced money making machines that somewhat have a Disneyland gimmicky vibe (as opposed to smalltown authenticity), and Patty O's unfortunately follows in those footsteps. Lovely restaurant with delicious lunch options from salads to sandwiches. The decor os very detail oriented and the service is... on point. It succeed out expectations. The bakery has a different entrance in the right side. The pastries, and bread, speciallythe brioche were excellent. A great addition to the dinning options in Little Washington and in the way to Shenandoah. Read more
