Ever since I got to CT in the early 2000. All you hear is about how good Pepe is. I tried this location when it 1st opened and... was disappointed then. I decided to give it a 2nd chance since I heard that the oven have to cure to get the best flavor. Thistime was no different than when they 1st opened. The pizza was hard it was like chugging on a piece of cardboard and the tastewas average. Nothing to brag about. They did meet the promise time I'll give them that much. I have been searching for a greatpizza place since I moved from NYC and this is not it. I will try the original Pepe in New Haven to see what the fuzz is about. Read more

Let me start by saying this is a no frills pizza. What I mean is, you can taste the fresh ingredients, from the tomatoes to the... cheese. If you like a chain pizza joint.....this is NOTHING like that. It's a true coal fired pizza. Stored here while charging my car. Last time I was here it was closed and bit was I glad it was open. Among the best coal fire... cooked Pizza I've had. Old family place is rightfully proud of their legacy restaurant. The use 10-foot peels to load coal andto remove the pizza. Quick service. Clean facility. Friendly and professional staff. Read more
I finally went to Pepe's!! I had a bad experience about 10 years ago at a work party and we got a Pepe's party pizza and it was... terrible, but that wasn't a true Pepe's Pizza. And, as I've said in other reviews, I shy away from the trendy. I get sick ofhearing, Pepe's is the best in the country, I don't think any pizza place or Restaurant for that matter can claim, "The Best"status. Too many variables and too many restaurants, especially Pizza Restaurants. However, this Pepperoni and Onion Pizza ????was one of the best "Italian Pie's" I've had. The Crust was great, I even ate most of the crusts. The cheese and sauce wereperfect (for an Italian pie). Not really much more to say, other than the service by Julia P was friendly and attentative, thisyoung lady is headed for greatness. I recommend Pepe's Big. Read more
