This used to be our go to for fried seafood. My husband and I would drive the hour to come enjoy and share the fisherman?s... platter. Shrimp used to be large and battered in house along with the whole bellies, scallops, and fish. Now they no longer havethis shrimp. Instead it?s been substituted for a for a Gordon?s Fisherman type frozen shrimp. A bit greasy too. Verydisappointed! I thought maybe they had just run out and had to replace with this product but when asked they said they?re nolonger going to do the Good shrimp?? Establishment owner reached out after this review and mentioned that he person I asked atwindow was wrong. They will be getting back to their good shrimp! Let?s hope so!! We recently stopped for lunch at the Dock Restaurant in Niantic, CT. Staff was friendly and very helpful in our decision to... order. We went with a hot lobster roll and a scallop platter. placed our order and went to seat ourselves on the large deckoverlooking the bay. beautiful views and it was a bright and sunny day, perfect. As we were walking to grab a table we passedthe raw bar, that caught my attention. I placed a order for a couple of clams, they were cherrystones, small but tasty, justwhat I needed. Back to the lobster roll and scallops of which both were very good and plentiful. Overall the Dock was a greatstop for us, beautiful scenery, good food nice portion size. The choice of the hot lobster roll went against all of myconvictions, but the cold lobster roll was with heavy dose of mayo and celery, to me that's a lobster salad, not my preferencewith a cold lobster roll. All was good at the Dock Restaurant if you are in that area looking for a nice seafood lunch give it atry. I would give it a 4.5 but it doesn't allow, so instead of the best 5 star rating , it is a 4.5 worth stopping in and enjoythe fresh air, boats in the bay the Niantic River drawbridge and see some trains roll by. This is a marina bar and restaurant. It's a small place right on the dock. It has that cool local vibe, populated by the... fishermen and boaters who occupy the slips. The bar is right on the dock, and there is a large seating area on top of the barwith great views of the marina and Niantic River. The restaurant is detached, and you order at the window, then pick up yourfood and take it to your choice of seating. The bar has a row of seats right on the dock in the sun and also some seatinginside. They serve wine and beer and also ice cold jumbo shrimp at the bar. Great menu of seafood items. This is a great little mostly fried fish joint on the bay. Kick back for a super causal inexpensive beer for the area, on draft... in a plastic cup and enjoy hanging out talking with friends. View is great! Foods good for the ?style? of place. Run by youngadults. Lobster roll bun could have had better bread and toasted??? I think it?s only open Wednesday- weekend??? Great afterwork stop! Wife and I had lunch here after an early morning fishing trip. Ordered the lobster roll and fried scallop roll with some beers.... Staff friendly, food delicious and beers cold! Lobster roll had a crisp bun, with butter thoughtfully on the side so itwouldn't be soggy by the time you brought it to your table. The lobster itself was perfectly cooked, great flavor and in nicebig chunks. The scallop roll was okay, the scallops themselves were fresh, not overcooked and nicely breaded, next time we'dprobably just order fried scallops, skip the bun. Tartar sauce was good, not sticky sweet. Coleslaw average but tasted veryfresh. If we're in the area again we'd definitely come back, great food and brews with a great view of the passing boats. Great lil seafood shack. Has a good seafood selection. The fried option were all very tasty. The oysters, clams, and shrimp were... very fresh and they provide excellent toppings for them. The place has parking and it?s a very easy drive. It?s a must try whenin or near Waterford. Read more
