Basil Pizza was a nice addition to our pizza offerings in the area. The location might scare some patrons away but they... probably prefer Pizza Hut or Little Caesar?s to grace their Iowa Corn Fed pallets. Basil hasn?t changed much over the yearswhich is both good and bad. Some menu favorites have disappeared. The beer selection is ok but lacks creativity. Theirsourdough pizza creations remain delicious and now includes their take on Detroit style which I?ll have to try again but it waspretty good the first time. If you find yourself in downtown Loo? Basil Pizza is worth a stop. Enjoy! Read more

The Detroit pizza is by far the best pizza I have ever had! Great atmosphere, drinks and staff, what more could you want?

Stumbled upon this place while in town for work and wanted a good local (non-chain) pizza place. The reviews/comments convinced... me to give it a try and really glad I did - great tasting pizza (I had the mushroom and homemade sausage). Service was friendly, fast, and attentive. Prices were very good (my bill came to about $16 with a drink.) They call these "personal" pizzas but theyare much larger than single serving - easily the size of a traditional medium and will feed 2. Parking is mostly street but Ihad no trouble finding a spot on a Saturday night. Highly recommended! Read more

The kid requested pizza and man this place delivered. Incredible crusts made fresh and fast. The street taco pizza with chorizo... was delicious and such a unique taste we ate it all up. The pepperoni pizza was also good. They arrived very quickly and hot.The decor is very cool and trendy. Service was excellent and very laid back. We will definitely stop again when we come throughtown. It was $36 for two pizzas, one lemonade, plus tip. Very well worth the money. Read more

This is a gem hiding in Waterloo IA. They have an executive chef and it shows! The best Napoleon Pizza I have ever had. The... crust melts in your month. Their home made dressing -just added to the stand out experience. The italian-style coffee is notyour over sized, over sweet American standard. Their portions are small with a rich smooth flavor. So worth it! The atmospheretakes you away. You wouldn't guess you were in Waterloo. Their staff was so so pleasant and their service excellent. If you arein the Cedar Valley this is a must stop for dinner or lunch! Read more

As someone who eats a lot of pizza, it may very well have been the best pizza I've ever had. We had the fungo without mushrooms... and added sausage. The sausage definitely made the pizza. The atmosphere was great and resembled a coffee shop. I coulddefinitely see myself going there for a coffee/beer/work session. Our waiter, Steve, was very knowledgeable about the food andclearly made an effort to connect with the patrons. We will be back with others. This place should be a Waterloo highlight. Read more

Very good first experience at Basal's. The food and service were both excellent. El Capitan and Chicken Parm sandwiches were... excellent and our friends pizza selections had all very satisfied as well. Shrimp and Cheese Bread appetizers were fantastic. Read more
