I usually don't leave reviews, but due to our experince here, I felt I had to. Myself and my husband were so disappointed by... this place. The service was horrid and the attendants at the stall were rude. Probably the worst Mexican food experince we haveever had, flavourless and not authentic at all! My husband asked to make his burrito extra spicy and the lady at the front saidit was already very spicy and gave us "special" hot sauce on the side that was apperantly dynamite lol...it was NOT. Anyway,when we ate our food, it was the most unflavourful mexican we have ever had in our lives. We will not eat here again orrecommend this place to any lover of Mexican food. La Abuela serves delicious Mexican food! It is fresh and made to order. I have gone weekly for years for quesadillas and they... always taste great! The owner and her employees are so friendly and provide excellent service. They also have gluten friendlyoptions! I highly recommend trying La Abuela! Read more
Visited this place 1st week of September with family. Food is tasty no doubt but customer service is disappointing. Ordered two... shrimp and one fish taco with Churros. My Shrimp taco ( 3#) came with one fish taco too. No doubt its a busy place but mixingup is not good. Imagine a person with allergy getting that bite . For me its not an issue but they need to be careful. Churrosis tasty. Definitely needs improvement in smiling at customers. Once you come out its a again a line up to go inside farmersmarket building so the business need to deliver the customers what they ordered at first place. Read more
Best Mexican food I've had! The selection is huge and everything is 10/10, trust me I've had every item in their menu. But I... always end up getting a chorizo torta and I finish up with some churros! Owner is so nice and does a good job recommendingdishes. The only thing I have to say is that this place is authentic, just what you would get in the streets in Mexico! I'vehad a hard time finding something similar to what I would eat whenever I would go and this place is it. You know the food isgood when other Mexicans recommend this place. Read more
Ok I went twice in one week and they are only open Thursdays and Saturdays! Best Mexican restaurant in Waterloo! The customer... service is amazing. Remember there is two locations at the St. Jacobs Market. The one with the tacos is in a smaller building.The Gorditas had feta cheese, meat, lettuce with the sauce on the side. So delicious! The green enchiladas had some kick and Inormally don't like kick, but it was so good. The shrimp tacos were perfectly crispy and again the sauce was served on the side.Perfect because it wasn't soggy when you ate it. The chorizo tacos had so much flavor in every bite! Worth trying!! Stumbled upon this gem this weekend and was *thrilled* - we ordered a beef burrito with guacamole and an order of churros ?.I... couldn?t stop eating either of them.! The beef was moist and flavorful, and the churros were super fresh. And the person takingorders was sweet and gave lovely service. I?m already looking forward to stopping by on my next market visit!
