I ordered a pesto bagel with cream cheese. These are not New York Jewish Bagels. This looked like a Bagel, but the dough was... more like a hamburger bun with a hole in it. The pesto was not baked in, it was spread on with the cream cheese. It tasted goodbut this was not what I would call a real bagel. It may be a cultural thing, maybe these folks have never had a real bagel fromNYC or Philadelphia and they saw a photo and said I could make that. ???? on a positive note, this bagel would make a greatsandwich. Nice bakery, salads to go look great but $$.Coffee and sweets look great. Do not get bagels here if you want bagels. They are... doughy bread, only thing it has in common with a bagel is the shape.I really wish they would change their name or start makingbagels correctly. Read more
I've came here lot, mostly because it has been one of the closest easy places to ear near work. It's...fine. Bagel Cafe does... do pretty good salads and bagel sandwiches, and sometimes smoothies (they're inconsistent), but since they raised the pricesit's a lot harder to justify a visit. Also, weirdly enough, their bagels are, uhh, the furthest from what a traditional bagelis supposed to be. Want a bagel that is doughy, chewy, dense? Nah, they got one that is light and airy. What? They don'ttaste bad, but they are just bagel-shaped bread than they are real bagels. It's just odd. Read more
I've been going to Bagel Café since the early 2000s. It's always been consistent and delicious.
The atmosphere & staff are very friendly & welcoming. The variety of what's offered here is overwhelming in a positive way.
I am normally a big fan of this place. I came all the way from Merced today to get a fruit tart for a special occasion, only to... check it once I got home to a bunch of MOLDY fruit! The cream cheese was also really stiff, so who knows how long it had beensitting out for. I had eaten some of the fruit before I discovered Definitely it went bad and it made me sick. I will beextremely wary about coming back here in the future, if I come back at all. EDIT: I messaged them a couple days after theyresponded back to this, and they completely ignored me.
