Traveling through Wausau I was hungry and Googled the best places to eat. Wausau Mine Company was close so I decided to try it... out. It is a very neat and unique restaurant, I was seated right away, service was quick, I ordered the prime rib sandwich, Iwas surprised by how large a serving it was. The meal was very good and the price was pretty reasonable. If you are lookingfor a good, unique place to eat in Wausau I recommend the Wausau Mine Company. Read more

Saw the good reviews and decided to try the place out. I'm glad I did. I had the Poor Man's Cod with Cesar salad, twice baked... potatoes, and garlic bread. I also ordered a side of onion rings. Washed it down with a Surly Brewing Furious IPA, and aBloody Mary cocktail. The Cod was served swimming in a delicious platter of melted butter. I broke the cod fillet up intosmall flakes so the butter soaked into it as much as possible. It was absolutely delicious. The twice baked potatoes were niceand cheesy. The bartender was a good dude. I was tucked into the corner at the bar, and it was pretty busy, but he was on topof the service game and made sure to check with me regularly to see if I needed anything else. The total bill came out to $25. Pretty good deal. Great food, great service, at great price. I'm very happy I came here while on my visit to Wausau. I hopeyou're next visit is as great as mine was. We visited on prom night, so the restaurant was super busy. However, the staff were very attentive, helpful, and quick. I had... cheese curds (10/10), potato fries (super crispy), Kansas BBQ Pork Sandwich w/ Coleslaw (delicious). I like that they providedplenty of sauce for everything. The Reuben and the Philly Cheese steak were ordered by others in the party, and said were good.Prime Rib sandwich was a bit tough and the au joux was a bit salty though. We always love this place when in town. You get plenty of tasty food at a great price. They know how to put cheese on a pizza... like it should be. Get the Italian Fries with dipping sauce as an appetizer, So good! The lasagna, pizza and burger weregreat. We happen to hit the 2 for one margaritas as well. What a wonderful night. Read more
We have been here twice, and not disappointed either time. Both visits was extremely enjoyable, The food is always hot, large... portions, and the meats are very lean, the presentation has always been top notch, where they actually take pride in how thefood looks when it's placed on the table, and the wait staff is always pleasant and beyond helpful. I had been at Wausau Mine company twice. It?s a unique restaurant and I believe it?s an iconic restaurant in Wausau. It really... looks like you are inside a mine. It?s definitely a different experience. The first I was there, I had the 2 pastas on my plate.That one is not that good for me. I find nothing special about the taste. We also ordered the italian fries, I love this one.The second time, I had the virgil burger and onion rings ( lean beef patty, sautéed onion, canadian bacon, mushroom). It isjust okay for me.
