I searched for bbq for good hour or two. I couldn't find anything worth catching my eye. I stopped at gas station in someone... referred this place. Must I say that person deserves a medal. This place is fire and fast service. Brisket is spot on I gotplatter ate it. Went got another for the road. Mac cheese is legit creamy and good flavor. BBQ sauces are also good the spicyone is best. Pros: Fast carry out. Outdoor dining looked pleasant, well taken care of. Website is easy to navigate and attractive. The... restaurant itself is appealing and new, especially against the character of Historic Downtown Wentzville. The pulled pork isgreat. Very smokey (if you like that sort of thing), flavorful, tender. It just fell apart. The buns are toasted well. Cons:Both the fries and coleslaw weren't fresh. I looked through some of the pictures on other reviews, and we definitely didn't getfries that looked like that. They were sitting under a heater too long maybe and were dark in color, dry, and somewhat stale?And the coleslaw looked sort of dull and tasted old. So since I last visited, the atmosphere has changed for the better. Nice looking menu, clean interior and exterior. Today was... a lovely day, my wife and I sat outside. This review is sole based on the Brisket Horseshoe. My wife and I both ordered theBrisket Horseshoe and shared a Burnt End Rangoon. I took a picture of the Burnt End Ragoon because of the nice presentation. For some reason, the Brisket Horseshoe pictures didn't turn out. There are a few other restaurants in the area who attempt thisHorseshoe concept with beer cheese. While my wife and I enjoyed the experience, certain aspects kept popping up. My wifeenjoyed the pungent beer flavor in the beer cheese while I was eh about it. The flavor of the brisket was good to us both. Seemed like an ok portion of brisket. The lack of fries was the downer to us both. The beer cheese was a little thin for myliking. So head to Dukes and give it a try to see your point of view. Read more
We were randomly passing through Wentzville and googled reviews for Dukes BBQ Shack. Decided to try it, and so glad we did!... Clean restrooms and helpful friendly staff goes a long way with us, but the food was also excellent! Dry rub ribs, pulled pork,burnt ends, smoky Mac. So good! Homemade ranch dressing, great salad also. Cute cozy spot in downtown. Definitely would goback if we drive back thru. ???????? Read more
Absolutely worth the time to stop! We were just passing through and happened to pick Dukes BBQ because we have plenty of the... chain restaurants back home. Best decision of the day! Had the pulled pork sandwich topped with coleslaw. Everything lookedamazing on the menu though. The sauces were really good too! The facilities were very clean and the custom hand washing stationwas a one of a kind addition you don't see anywhere else! Skip the chains and hit a local spot. This one is well worth it! Read more
Duke?s BBQ Shack, a road trip delight Discovered through google, and, oh, what a sight! The smoke flavored air penetrated our... senses And filled up our bellies with great consequences. The ribs were delicious, falling off of the bone ? Reminding me of thegreat BBQ back home. The varied and complex sauces seduced and slathered our tastebuds until time was reduced. Fantastic BBQ! Best brisket I've had for some time. Sauces were great and the smoked mac & cheese was truly awesome. Pulled... chicken melts in your mouth and pulled pork was perfect with lots of bark. Can't wait to go back! Read more
Been here a few times, and it?s great. The meat is great, I had the brisket and sausage. Both were delicious. I had the fries... and Mac and cheese for sides. They were great. I had their original and spicy sauces, and both were good. The building is newand cool. The music was great (good old country). My only minor gripes are the meat portions could be bigger and the spicy saucecould be hotter. 5 stars regardless. Read more
