We were seated quickly although I'd recommend making a reservation. We didn't but they were able to squeeze us in but I felt... like it caused issues for them in the end. Our server was friendly and attentive and very genuine. I ordered the clam chowder, which was tasteful and packed with plenty of clam. I also got the shrimp scampi which honestly could have had more flavor. Itdidn't even really have a garlic taste to it though you could see garlic clove pieces. There was a decent amount of shrimp thathad a nice smoke after taste to them. In the end this plate was $19. My boyfriend got the surf and turf which came with a sideof mashed potatoes and it looked liked steamed spinach. The surf literally only included two small pieces of shrimp and two okaysized pieces of steak. But for the $24 you pay for the plate, it was not worth it. We ended the night with blueberry cheesecakeand cream puffs. You get a personal sized cheesecake which is nice, but unfortunately the blueberries on top were not that good, thankfully they can be scraped off! The cream puffs were fresh and delicious, and topped with melted dark chocolate. In the end,I'd maybe come back to try the lobster roll. Read more

I had the scallops sauteed vegetables and mashed potatoes and they were fabulous. The scallops were cooked to Perfection and... melted in my mouth. The vegetables were sauteed with just the right amount of Browning and perfect flavoring. And the mashedpotatoes were delicious. My very picky 86-year-old dad had the surf and turf and was very happy with his meal so much so that heasked that I put this on our list of places to go when we come to the Brattleboro area. This... evening we ordered the Burrata appetizer and for dinner we enjoyed the Shepherds Pie, and the Hot Lobster Roll. We also lovethat it a Family run establishment. Kurt is an Amazing Chef and Selma is so friendly and kind to all of the guests. If you havenot experienced the New England House, then add it to your list of places to try out. Perfect, casual dining, and the maple Manhattans are a must also the Raspberry margaritas! As advertised the lobster rolls were... awesome but the French onion soup and bacon and leek flatbread was amazing! Our host Selma the co owner with her husband, cameout to visit with us to insure everything was fine. Two thumbs up and will definitely be back if we travel through the areaagain! Read more

I can wrap this review up in just a few words but , I can't. If you have followed any of my reviews, you will clearly be... chomping at the bit to try this GEM . I can let you know I have rated many eateries and , the new England house has ranked inmy top 3 . Well done to this wonderful Vermont restaurant . My wife and I have traveled to many states here in the USA . Wedine quite a bit in all areas and types of cuisine. From the time you walk in you are taken to a place where you just know youcan relax , let your stress go . I'm sure y'all are saying I wish this man would just get to the meat and vegetables about thisplace . Well, ok . Here is some of the highlights that will hopefully grab your attention and , have you sitting at one ofthere tables . I did ask if it would be OK to mention names and , was told , that would be great . So here we go . Curt andSelma ( the owners ) have made the place someplace we will return to . Daelyn our waitress deserves a special shout out . Westarted off with the most gracious greeting from Selma . After we were seated in a cozy table for two , we had this lovely younglady ( Daelyn ) with such a bubbly personality come up and gave to us the best tasting water . We where told that every item onthis menu is made from scratch by ( CURT ) . My wife decided to order the chicken cheese sandwich ( on homemade rolls ) fries (extra crispy ) and pesto . I went another route . Bacon Broccoli chicken Alfredo. I can definitely give you a big YES on mychose . If the homemade Alfredo doesn't do it for you . Try the homemade French onion soup ... oh my . The chicken sandwich Iwas advised was AWESOME . We did choose to order desert ... wow . Creme bruelet. I do recommend trying the desert . Prices arevery reasonable and fair . Building is so quaint and comfortable . A must when you are in the area .eat well traveler's. Bekind , and , enjoy . Read more
