We've been coming here every year since they opened. Black Duck is a Cape May tradition, with an eclectic menu of delicious... standards and a scintillating rotation of specials. Bonus: like most restaurants in Cape May, this place is BYOB, and there's afantastic wine and beer shop across the street. Read more

The food was 5 stars The owner?s or owner were -1star. Ladies- If you are not wearing your Lilly Pulitzer and all your diamonds... expect a look-over several times- then a look down.... He?s rude and obnoxious- The atmosphere is stuffy andsuffocating. However I would have loved to meet the chef- food was magnificent- the only thing that guy got right!!!!! I hopehe pays and treats him better than his customers- if the chef goes- he?s got nothing! Read more

I'm finishing up my salmon and it is awesome! Got it for take out, and they gave me some bread for dipping in the fantastic... broth/sauce. I had some bad experiences at nearby restaurants and am very happy I gave Black Duck a try. They were very friendlyand quick for an amazing meal. Pretty sure the pasta that comes with the salmon is handmade, certainly delicious...and don'ttrust the hours on Google as they are open more than it appears, give them a call! Read more

The Good: Cozy atmosphere, easy to find, free parking. The Bad: We ordered a steak with potatoes and asparagus served with... arugula and balsamic vinaigrette dressing and we ordered the salmon. The salmon was great and is the reason for one of the twostars. The steak was luke-warm and the asparagus was cold. The potatoes were the only hot food on the plate. The server offeredto get me a new serving but I didn't want to wait for it. He didn't charge us for my meal which is the reason for the otherstar. The kitchen's timing was poor; the food should have come out hot altogether. The staff was not warm or friendly. Ourserver was pleasant, but the prices and ratings had my expectations higher. It was pretty tight in the dining room and noisy.Seating is kind of on top of eachother. Read more

Fancy and interesting byo menu. Red snapper with corn crab salsa and avocado mousse. Chilled crab bisque. Salted caramel ice... cream over peach and cherry cobbler with a caramel drizzle. I found the duck tasteless but enjoyed everything else. Read more

Overall good, expensive, upscale, with a dedicated chef and a reserved staff. I suggest you take your desert to go and watch the... sunset on the tip of Cape May, a perfect way to end the day. Easily one of the best braised beef dishes I've ever had. The meatwas tender with a slightly sweet taste that really complimented the beef. The shrimp was slightly spicy, fried perfectly. Withthe full mellow sweet potato and tangy kale, the dish was perfectly balanced. My friend had the duck and enjoyed the risotto.Well cooked but the fat and skin of the duck was tough which is understandably hard to perfect. Read more
