Tonight was our first time at Sapore Italiano based on recommendations from friends. Our meal was absolutely delicious. The... staff was friendly and attentive. Overall a wonderful restaurant to celebrate my husband’s birthday. My only complaint wouldbe that the restaurant is in need of updating. Read more

My favorite restaurant in Cape May! From the appetizers to the dessert, the food was delicious! The atmosphere was absolutely... charming as it is in a restored Victorian house. The service was impeccable. By the time we finished dessert (the most deliciousTiramsui I ever had), we felt as if we had known our server for years! We can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend! This is a difficult review to leave. Being locals who frequent restaurants in our areas, we love finding hidden gems, and... celebrating favorites of others. This place is underwhelming with overwhelming prices. Not quite priced as "fine dining" (butjust under), Sapore is very difficult to get a reservation for after 5pm because it's so sought after. Situated in a historichome, inside seating is stuffy, but well sat with room to maneuver around the chairs and tables in the front rooms. Outdoorseating lovely and I wish I had selected to sit there. The menu is underwhelming. Had I done more research I would haveselected the gnocchi, as I discovered too late it is hand made in the restaurant. Remarkably, the cost for one of the twognocchi dishes is $23.95, and the price of the chicken piccata is $24.95. The rack of lamb is $32.95. This is why I went withchicken piccata and lamb, rather than a bowl of gnocchi. Pricing just seemed way off. Chicken piccata was very oily and thepasta was bland. Chicken was tender. One of the water fillers filled my glass over my plate and accidentally drained some waterfrom her pitcher into my plate, making my dinner even more watered down and bland. She apologized empathically and I feltterribly for her, but it didn't change the amount we paid. The rack of lamb looked underwelming but was tasty and tender. I hadorder envy, but not envious enough to want to come back for it again. The dessert menu is extensive but only two things aremade here: tirimisu and creme brulee. We tried the creme burlee, again, just a thin layer and underwhelming. Service was slowfor attention: water filling, plate collecting, bread basket filling, bringing the check... our table could have turned over afull 15 minutes before we acrually received the bill. For these prices I would have expected: "The chef got up at 2am and wasat the fish market selecting tonight's perfect specials and dinners. Our vegetables are selected from local farm to table Read more

Best Italian food down the shore. Gnocchi are house-made and gorgonzola sauce is amazing. It's like eating little clouds! The... chicken saltimbocca is enough food for 2 meals, and the sauce is so flavorful. We have been here dozens of times, and they neverdisappoint! Read more

We dined here during Restaurant Week. The fixed price menu was well worth it. My husband had chicken Oscar. I had veal carciofi,... with shrimp and artichoke in a delicious lemon caper sauce. Before this was a choice of starter, then pasta misto. Dessert wastiramisu and Nonna's cake, both delicious. Very attentive service. Read more
