El Rey has great tender asada which is different than anywhere else I?ve been. My favorite is the standard tacos, they do things... their own way and don?t just have the same exact stuff you?ll find at any place - so the flavors are familiar but unique. First time after driving by for a year. Very nice dining area but they fell flat with the food.I got the uninspiring $10 steak... burrito.The steak was good, but half the burrito was lettuce, the cheese was shredded mozzarella and cold. Who puts lettuce ina burrito and half of it? The onions weren't even in the burrito, and if they were they would be raw. I doubt I go back. Read more
El Rey is easily my favorite burrito restaurant in Des Moines. It's not even close. The steak burrito with their hot sauce is... ridiculously good. I don't come here often enough. Highly recommend. Read more
A great place to go for Burritos. Giant Burritos!
I eat cusine all over the country and sure I have not eaten at every establishment that sells a savory Mexican dish. I have ate... here. The food is unique the service friendly. The EL- REY maybe one of the best burritos I've had the pleasure of eating. Thechips are served with a delicious fruity and spicy salsa. The meal is always exceptional. The main meal is served with theadded condiments of red or green sauce. Both sauces are not good they are GREAT. I don't know why this place isn't always on DesMoines Best of list. Because EL-REY Mexican food is one of the best. Read more
