10/14/22 ordered delivery, my order was 1 meat meal with country roasted chicken, called store and requested all white meat... chicken. Received 1/2 dark meat. ( menu doesn't give options for choice) added 2 rib bones and 1 was all fat, no meat. Sideswere beans and fries. Their quality is usually much better than this time. Very disappointed. Read more
Food quality and quantity has change. I understand covid and slow business has had an impact. From my experience meat portions... were cut in half or even less from the dinner plates, the pulled chicken sandwich no longer comes with cheese or BBQ sauce.Famous Dave's used to have 5 or 6 different bottles of BBQ sauce at the table, now is just 3. Over all staff was attentive andfriendly. Taste was ok. The only issue is the food price being higher yet portions are noticeably smaller, too many cornerswere cut. Based on this I would not recommend Famous Dave's. Read more
Went out to eat with my son on a Sunday at the Famous Dave's in West Des Moines, ended up getting my card ran 7 times. Tried to... talk to the managers about it at the restaurant, to which they gave me a number to call for their credit card company. The ladytold me they had to fix it at the store, so when I went back inside was basically blew off. Called the next day and was told itwould be either Thursday or Friday is what he had heard. The bank can't dispute as long as funds are pending, so had over $700in limbo for 4 days and didn't even get a complimentary meal. While in the store they said I wasn't the only one this happenedto, but yet I watched as people still paid with cards and nothing was. I will never go here again, and will discourage everyoneI can from going as well. Read more
EDITED- I’m updating my earlier review based on the response below from management. Although my experience was not stellar,... the food was tasty and the managers response was stellar. I will come back and try again. ORIGINAL REVIEW - They offer curbsidedelivery and I tip well for the service. After 20 min waiting I walked inside to grab my order and there was not a soul near thecounter. Food was cold but I’m not sure I’ll be back. Disabled people count on this service and will choose another place ifthe promise is not fulfilled. Read more
Updating my review. Removing a star. Frequent visitor, haven't visited in awhile. Went today and.. Forgot to check the boxes...... Of course no lettuce, onion, etc...almost always missing something... I guess I need to check every order from now on. Ofcourse, still delicious, supplied my own toppings. Read more
Stopped in on a Sunday, not busy. Service was good from the start, taking a look at their menu, as I have never been here... before. The prices for sandwiches, appetizer seemed reasonable. The entree's way on the pricey side, with most of the pick 1,2 or 3 item selections adding an extra $1 for them, really? the prices for entrees start at $17 to $19 dollars already. Entrees come, brisket served on a piece of soggy bread, and the portions, brisket was cold, and presentation of the plate well,not great. Sides, very skimpy. Server was good, Lindsey great, loved her. Its overpriced folks. I have had REAL Texas BBQmany times from many restaurants there, as I just moved from TX and this was far from it. For 2 entrees, and 1 drink $42.00bucks!!! Brisket isn't that great, mine had too much fat on it to even eat. Brisket when prepared and smoked well should meltin your mouth, mine was very "chewy". Definitely not up to true Texas BBQ. Could at least pour warm BBQ sauce OVER the entreeor serve on the side. Very dissappointed here, unfortunately, cannot recommend. Read more
This is a great place if you are in the mood for BBQ. The atmosphere is very nice and chill. The staff is extremely friendly and... have great attitudes. The whole restaurant has a unique personality and it smells amazing! The food is really delicious andreally hits the spot. If you like BBQ you should definitely stop by. Read more
The service was pretty good and so was the food but I’d note that it was really pricey. $9 cocktails which were your typical... bottom shelf liquor and a single mixer and the food was a hefty bill just for two people.. nearly $50 in food alone. I probablywouldn’t come back but we’re glad we tried it. Read more
