Really disappointed with the quality of Korean fried chicken here. I?m from the Boston area and I haven?t had bonchon in a while... so I was craving some and decided to stop by to eat. The seasoned fries were good as always but as soon as our plate of chickenwings came out I was genuinely surprised. First of all, one thing I noticed immediately was the size. The wings looked massivecompared to what I remembered. I went ahead and took a bite but the skin was so hard (different from the texture you?d get froma good crunchy skin). Once I got through with the bite I saw that there was so much space in between the meat and the outerlayer, hence the size (see pic for detail). One of the wings outer shell was so hard it broke off when I bit into it. I?m notsure if bonchon just changed their recipe or something but all I could say was I was something was different. I won?t be comingto this location for sure. If you are used to the quality of Boston or new York Korean fried chicken, I?ll recommend you all tonot order from here. Read more
Great food, great environment. The staff are always so accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend the kimchi bacon fried rice... and spicy miso ramen! Such a nice location too- definitely my #1 spot to grab a bite after a long day. Read more
DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT GOOD BONCHONS. This place is ridiculous whoever their cooks are ruin Korean fried chicken. I?ve seen... so many people complain and nobody does anything! The strips are not the same as they used to be and all the sauces areextremely salty. Tastes nothing like how it would be in New York or Boston locations. Extremely disappointed in West Hartfordand how they haven?t changed after many complaints. And don?t tell me to go to your website resources because I have alreadyexpressed my DISDAIN for this location. Been here once and had a nice time, staff are very friendly! But I?ve ordered from here multiple times because the wings are so... tasty! Incredibly crispy; the spicy wings are in fact spicy and the soy garlic flavor wings are so delicious! Also the SIZE ofthe drums are incredible!! Highly recommend for wing lovers out there! Read more
I?m a fried chicken addict and by far, this is the best fried chicken I?ve ever had. Tried both the soy and the spicy but liked... the spicy better although both were good. I?m giving it 4/5 just because the side of fries I ordered was prepared in an old oil.It was delicious but had an old oil smell. Read more
I really love the food here! Everything from the ramen with chicken, to the wings, to the veggie potstickers to the japchae!... Just delicious food, made fresh. If you get spicy wings or potstickers, just know it is SPICY!! My only complaint is that thewaiters are very forgetful and inattentive at times which is pretty annoying, but as far as the food, it is worth a try forsure. Read more
We visited a Bonchon location out of state years ago and have been dying to go back ever since. Though long overdue, we finally... visited the West Hartford location last night, and our experience was just as good, if not better, than we remembered. Thebatter and sauces on the fried chicken are fantastic, and the chicken itself was so fresh. The salmon avocado ball wasdelicious, and I can be critical of pork buns, so I ordered them to see how they compared to some of my favorite places. Bonchonnailed them! Flavorful sauces were used, the pork belly was great, and most importantly, the bun was soft and not dry. We triedBull Dak for the first time and loved it, and of course it?s always fun when it comes in a sizzling hot plate. The bibimbap wastasty as well, and I liked the Bulgogi as a protein choice.
