A lot of the dishes uses Sichuan... peppercorn, chilli peppers, and chilli oil so if you have a low tolerance for spicy food, go for mild. Hands down one of the best authentic Chinese restaurants out there ! It’s a hidden gem in a nondescript strip mall, so don’t... let the outside view fool you. We only just got our appetizers and I'm going out of my way to say how good the food is. This is high NYC level quality food,... but in (near?) West Hartford, CT. I would have taken pictures if I knew the food was /this/ good. I like spicy food and thespicy options are exactly what I want. My significant other likes less spicy food and she is still enjoying it because it is soflavorful. This restaurant is a gem and Ill be back every time I'm in the area. Read more
Very tasty. Authentic and good ingredients Edited in April 2020 (5 stars to 2 stars) I visited again and ordered fish, pork... belly, and seasoned beef intestines. It was full of MSG and salt. Ingredients in fish are not harmonized. They are just tooseparate. Worse than sichuan pepper. it was trash or cook was changed. Very disappointing Read more

It’s not a typical take out type of Chinese restaurant. Shu is an authentic Chinese restaurant offering spicy Szechuan... cuisine. To judge if it’s authentic, we normally see how much and how well they apply Sichuan peppercorns, a special spicewith unique aroma that makes your mouth numb. Shu does it just right. Before the pandemic, this place was always crowded,especially on Friday and Saturday night. This year it is much quieter because of the impact of the virus. But every time I atethere, I felt safe. They keep good measures. The food is delicious as always. Read more
