First time we ate there was for breakfast, my eggs Beni was very good, home fries not so good. We had a wonderful waitress. The... second time, we were told that they use real Turkey to make their clubs, not! It was good but not real Turkey, it was the lunchmeat stuff cut thick. Disappointed! Service was good. Food was fine but our server was rude. We felt chased out. She really rushed us. We were done eating by 8:25. When she came over... at 8:27, we tried to order desert. She said ?We close at 9:00 just so you know?? like, what? Does it take you over a half hourto eat a slice of cake? No. Then as we were leaving the owner/another worker followed us out and closed/locked the door behindus. I?m glad they got to close up shop early and enjoy their night, but we felt super unwelcome. It was good. Very standard diner fare. Nothing spectacular except the extent of the menu. The food was good. The service was... exceptionally friendly, but not necessarily on point. Overall it was a good dining experience and i would return. One of mypancakes smiled at me... So... I'll share that photo ???? The seasonal pumpkin pancakes were tasty, but nothing exceptional. We ate here twice while staying in Reading because it was consistent and reasonably priced. We stopped by a few other places... that were pretentious and not really ready to serve customers. Read more
Very cool, classic diner. Counter seating and booths available. Also a small outdoor area. Large plates of good, homestyle... meals. Large selection of deserts. Pies, cakes, and more baked goods in the glass case. Breakfast and lunch specials. GreekOmelette was good. French toast was fluffy, potatoes were crispy. So disappointing! 2 eggs over medium, home fries, 2 sausage links, white toast requested extra butter & a side of scrapple. Home... fries COLD, not a shake of seasoning, NONE! NO TASTE AT ALL!, Eggs over EASY NOT MEDIUM (AT LESST THEY WERE HOT)! Toast had aLAYER of unmelted PLASTIC Tasting MARGARINE! Scrapple was the WORST I EVER HAD! GREASY, REHEATED, FUNKY TASTE! This is PA DutchCountry & they have the best scrapple available! This place is obviously not buying it! Brown & serve sausage links. NEVERAGAIN! *** Adding this is the second time eating at this place. First time was not good but gave them the benefit of thedoubt... An off day maybe?? NO! 2 waitresses & a hostess standing around outside kitchen door & had to get up & go over to askwhere my scrapple order was bc she brought breakfast out with no scrapple. Never came over to ask if we needed anything else orif everything was ok. Again had to get up & go over to them to ask for our bc we couldn't get her attention. Mind you... therewere only 2 other tables to wait on. I'm done! ?? As for the RESPONSE to put your own salt & pepper on your homefries... Had a wedding last night in reading( we are from nj) a bunch of us went to the diner for breakfast and it was an awesome... breakfast! The diner was quite busy being a Sunday morning, we got sat pretty fast. The waitress was on point with our coffeesshe just kept them coming, exactly what we needed after partying the whole night! Breakfast was tasty and hot, great home frieswhich is hard to find in a diner. Our diners in nj don?t have home fries like that that?s for sure! The manager/hostess wasreally nice as well very accommodating. Keep up the great work y?all! Read more
