I headed up to El topo last Friday to meet some friends. It was our first time there and it was fantastic. I arrived a bit early... and was immediately greeted by Blair who took great care of me, with a killer glass of bubbly, and then was our server the restof the night. We had a group of five dudes that might be hard to please and everyone was blown away. The hand made food, thedrinks that Blair suggested and the bottles of incredible wine were all off the charts. Nothing like feeling as though you are aregular at a neighborhood joint even though you’re all first timers. Just so you know, this is not a run-of-the-mill Mexicanrestaurant that are so common in Houston… If you want a great environment, indoors or out, and an intriguing menu filled withunique choices, coupled with fantastic service, where the owner is hands on and circulating all night, grab a reservation andhead on over to El Topo! If I could give 1000 stars I would. The amount of love, thought, and intention that goes into this food actually blew my mind.... 10/10 would recommend the redfish ceviche- total knockout. Everything that we ate was delicious - I can’t wait to go back andtry more food ! Its kind of one of those “I’ll take one of everything” places - which is so incredibly rare. There’s alot of thought put into sourcing, preparation, and flavor development. Each bite was its own experience. I was also veryimpressed with the wine list - just as a heads up they don’t have liquor on the menu, the cocktails listed are wine-baseddrinks. I would skip those if you are a “boozy” cocktail person, but who doesn’t love a good Bellini ? This place has beenon my List for over a year, and I’m so glad that I found my new Houston favorite Read more

Great food! Easy quiet vibe. Was a random find and so happy to have found it. This place is across from a school so no... Margaritas on the menu as no full liquor license... but otherwise it's a top choice for delicious Mexican food. Read more

The barbacoa taco changed my life...Honestly teared up. Everything about this place is great from the chefs to the marketing to... the atmosphere, but most importantly the food. I had El Topo catered for an event and they were amazing with the setup, theirpersonalities and punctuality! Read more

I read about El Topo in a highlight in Texas Monthly, so I decided I had to check them out. They did not disappoint, if anything... they exceeded my expectations. We went for brunch and had a wonderful experience. From the decor of the small space, to theflatware, and all the little touches just made it very inviting and comfortable. We started with agua fresca mimosas, pineappleand lime. So incredibly fresh and flavorful, we could have drank them all day. My girlfriend got the masa pancakes and it camewith peaches and molasses. My mouth is salivating writing this, they were delicious! I got the barbacoa Benedict with crispypotatoes. The meat was really nice, I think I would have substituted the traditional English muffin for the masa pancake becauseI'm obsessed with them, but it was still really nice. I also got an Al Pastor taco and let me tell you it was the most perfectlyconstructed Al pastor I've ever had. If you like pineapple in your pastor taco, this is it. The end all be all, best Al Pastortaco I've ever had. And I order it in every town and every taqueria I go to. The menu has tons of options plus unique brunchitems on the weekend. Do yourself a favor and go see them! Read more
