I really enjoyed Swad! I had a reservation here at 5:30 on a Saturday with some friends, and we were about 15 minutes late due... to traffic, but they didn't seem put off which was a relief, probably because they weren't too busy yet, although it was gettingthere by the time we left. The ambiance inside was so nice; the decoration was elegant and classy but not overstated, thelighting low and warm, and the chairs comfortable. The vibe is a little upscale (more than we were expecting) but notinaccessible at all. I ordered the Reshami Paneer, a Pudina Parantha, and a Salty Lassi - all were excellent. I haven't seenthis paneer dish at a restaurant before and really liked it - it was zingier than similar paneer curries like kadai paneer orpaneer tikka masala and tasted very vibrant. I ordered medium spice and it fell just about where I expected it to. The level wasgood for me, although I could've handled a little spicier - if you're used to the medium spice level from super authenticplaces, this was a little less than that, but I think about average for the majority Canadian or American Indian restaurants.Others in my group ordered the butter chicken and palak paneer and had good things to say. My one friend is sensitive to heatand ordered his butter chicken mild, and said it was fine for him. The parantha was very flaky and almost doughy on the inside, just how I like it, and fragrant with the mint. The lassi was nice and smooth, not too heavy, and made a nice accompaniment tomy meal. Our food came out in a very timely manner after ordering. The à-la-carte mains and breads are decently-sized portionedfor one person, but the rice sides, which others at my table shared, are enough for 2 people each. Our waiter was verypersonable, but he really tried to push us to order appetizers and desserts, which would have been fun and cute if that was whatwe wanted, but we had a pretty clear idea of what we wanted and did have somewhere to be after, and I think we all felt Read more

Rating 4 stars as the best Indian in West Vancouver. Highlights are the that the dishes are generally all pretty tasty. Pakoras... and Bhajias are always fresh and are well seasoned. The curries all have a unique flavor and can be differentiated. Only thingthat we’ve never really like is the chicken tika (bland and sometimes dry) and that they don’t have a bone in tandoorichicken option. Breads and rice are good. Overall our go to place for a curry fix in West Van. Read more

I am extremely impressed with Swad, so much that I have a mouth watering desire to return every time I see it! Some of the best... Indian sauces I've ever had accompanied by fantastic breads - a top rating for both in-house and take out dinners! I willcertainly be going back to try the lunches soon. Now to add to this a year or so later - I've now been to Swad a few times, both dine in and takeout. I've tried meat and veggies dishes, appies and main courses and I've always been impressed. (One thingI haven't done is had lunch, only dinner) The prices for the main courses can be a little higher than other parts of the city, but you get excellent quality for that. I can see that other people think the same as me, because it is a busy place. I have notneeded reservations, but I've been lucky and got the last free table on occasion. This is still a restaurant I recommend, andI'm doing so now. Read more

I’m surprised this place doesn’t have more reviews. A friends family hosted us here for an engagement party and this was... the perfect spot. A variety of delicious dishes, including palak lamb, pakoras, mogho (cassava), chicken, daal, rice, andmore. Definitely would come here if you’re looking for great Indian food in West Van. Read more

Nice restaurant located in West Van with street and back yard free parking. Cozy environment, friendly service. Monday and... Tuesday are customer appreciation night, you can get 25% off. For bottled wines you can get 50% off, good deal! As I am not anIndian food expert, my friend did the ordering. The Lamb and buttered chicken are must try, best with rice or naan, yummy! Ialso like the spinach with cheese, the waiter said the cheese was home made, so tasty! Read more

Nice, comfortable space, and friendly/polite service. But it was quite busy on Saturday evening, so service was actually very... slow (think they were short-handed). And the actual food - it was disappointing: medium Railway Lamb was lamb in a tomato sauce, with no spice and no potatoes; Chicken Korma was incredibly sweet (waiter actually warned of the sweetness, to be fair).
