My brother passed this place regularly and suggested it for a birthday dinner we had tonight. The birthday girl was craving... clams, mussels and steak. We were pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent and the food was delicious! For appetizers wegot clams oreganato, clams casino, mussels, buratta salad, and a sampler. The clams were spot on and the sauce was perfect fordipping the bread (same for the mussels sauce). Buratta was fresh with just the right amount of balsamic drizzle. I did not trythe sampler but everyone wnjoyed the wings. Most everyone had steak for dinner (comes with mashed potatoes and a side ofvegetables). I had the meatloaf. No complaints with the entrees. I have to say, this place was fantastic!! We decide to throw our daughter a graduation party at last minute. It was in 2 weeks... and they already had other parties scheduled, besides it?s a restaurant. Well they accommodated it perfectly!!! Non of the othertables over crowded one another, the place is spacious, bathrooms are beautifully done and the service was phenomenal. I lovedloved their menu and how you can pick from different meats and appetizers for an event. Daniella was so sweet and helpful and ison top of the show. She manages everything and doesn?t miss a beat. Our maître d' (which I give him this title, cause hedeserves it) Jerry, was spectacular!! He made sure everyone has a drink, everyone has their meal, everyone is having a goodtime. He was awesome. Our party was 22 people and they have a great team of workers here and the food was delicious. From skirtsteak and fish that was so taste, omg, I don?t eat fish and I loved it. We were curious to try this restaurant for its promise of old Hollywood charm. Once you walk in, there?s a red tufted style bar... welcoming you inside. The restaurant has tons of Marilyn Monroe photographs on wall and creates an old Italian restaurantaesthetics. Anyway, we grab a table at the back of the restaurant and order penne alla vodka and chicken avocado sandwich (aspictured). The pasta came out so hard, we had to send it back. The chicken was also rock hard and tasted stale. Both disheslacked flavor. But hey, the fries on the side was really good! Our waitress was super nice.They even wanted to give us a freedessert but judging by the taste of food, we did not have much expectations and politely declined the offer. This was our first visit to Monroe's. They have a really good brunch special for $12.99. We decided to choose from the many... scrumptious choices on the main menu instead. I had the poached eggs with avocado and salmon on multigrain. My daughter had theFrench toast with berries. We both ordered coffee which was delicious and chose bellinis (included with the meal). Theportions were huge. I came hungry, but it is a lot. My daughter took half of hers home. The food was incredibly good. Theserver kept returning to the table to see if everything was okay. It was. The table got a bit cluttered. Had there been four ofus rather than two, there might have been a problem. At some point, I think the owner came over to ask us if everything wasokay. The entire staff was friendly and attentive. The prices were reasonable ( we looked at the entire menu). Three hiccups:The large screen TVs were a distraction in this pretty space. There was a surcharge 3.5% for using a credit card. I wouldn'tmind, but we should have been advised before we ordered. Parking is in the back, but there is no back door. We will return. Just left Monroe's. Was looking for a new place to eat and really lucked out finding this spot!! First of all the service was... phenomenal from everybody asking how things are going repeatedly through ou the dinner. Our server and I hope I get it right"David" was very attentive and answered any questions about the menu. I dropped a fork and I swear he caught it or it seem withhow fast he gave me a new one. Now getting to the food we ordered the Monroe Medley we liked the wings and mac balls, loved thePhilly cheesesteak egg rolls so much we ordered another one. My wife took a chance on the chicken bolognaese after Davidexplained how the dish was prepared she love it and wanted more of the gravy to smother the chicken. I ordered a black labelburger was made to order delicious and loved the hand cut fries also. To stuffed for dessert but looked over the menu for futurevisits, if it's like the food should be delicious. Look forward to singing the praises to all we know and coming back for more!! Read more
