It's OK, it's not bad, it's definitely not great. I don't get the hype, all the locals will tell you this place is amazing but... honestly some of the ice cream is weakly flavored, like Orange Pineapple tastes like Vanilla. Ordered a sandwich and there'svery little flexibility there, you get what's on the menu and they can't really do much about adding different meats to yoursandwich because it comes to them pre-packaged. I've just recently started going here again. Tuesday I was there and the young guy behind the counter just looked at me and... walked away, as if I didn't exist. And just looked at me stand there. I just smiled. When one of the other women behind thecounter saw, and then saw my expression ( disdain) she immediately asked for my order. Again Friday I went back for Ice Cream.The looks from the customers and the workers, amazes me. This time the young girl stood there, and others behind the counterwalking back and forth, doing nothing. I asked.. could I get some help please. Now, there were 3 other white guys lookingthrough the fridges, trying to decide what they wanted. In the meantime I'm still standing there looking silly. The girl says assoon as I finish waiting on them I will wait on you. The guys are still trying to figure out what there doing. Eventually shetakes my ice cream order. Mind you, when she looks at the other servers, everyone acts as if I'm not standing there. And yes, Iam African American, but to see, in this day and age, and all that's going on we are still displaying such stupidity andignorance. I work in mental health, I've brought many of my clients there and I think the Ice Cream is Delicious, but after theignorance and behavior from workers at Hoffman's ice cream I will never refer them or eat at that place again. Hoffman's is the place for ice cream and fireflies on a warm summer evening. The fireflies are thicker there out in the field... after the ice cream, and they add to the sweet and unique memory. It's one of the best summertime experiences I enjoy with myfamily and any visitors in town. 22 years plus ice cream fan - love it but just recently discovered the deli in the last year they have the best turkey clubs and... I just had a hot roast beef and mashed potato lunch that was so good. The staff is extremely kind and friendly I feel like I?mgoing to my relatives house. Read more
I was born and raised in Westminster, MD until we moved overseas. We used to go to Hoffman's after our baseball games and the... ice cream was always amazing. Since we were visiting Maryland, I brought my own kids here and it was every bit as good as Iremembered from my childhood years. The girls loved it too. And WOW that S'mores Sundae is incredible! Quaint little ice cream shop that stays busy. It really is no wonder they do stay busy too! Their ice cream selection is large... and boy is it tasty! The staff is as sweet as the ice cream. They are a friendly lively bunch that make you feel right at home.You are treated like one of the family and not just as a guest. The prices are spot on. I always order vanilla to judge an ice cream. Hoffman's is wonderfully rich and creamy with exceptional mouth feel. It's a... delight. And then for a flavor, I went with black cherry. Because the base ice cream already is solid, the flavor just soars andthe bits of cherry take it over the top. We were an hour from home or I would have loaded the trunk with gallons. Read more
