What an awesome experience!! We came about a half hour before closing (this is the only ice cream open past 10pm that we could... find!) and the employees were SO nice! We had such a lovely little interaction and conversation with the lady at the cashregister. Graeter's is wonderful. I often buy pints at the supermarket but this was my first trip to the scoop shop. It was WONDERFUL! My... better half had a jumbo sugar cone filled with chocolate chocolate-chip. I had a 2 scoop sundae with raspberry chocolate chip,chocolate w/ chocolate brownie, covered in hot fudge and black raspberry sauce. First time I tried Graeter's. I'm pretty sure the company stems from Ohio, but they have a few shops in the Pittsburgh area as... well. I was thinking about trying a coffee or fruity flavor, but finally settled on what seems to be one of their more popularand state-related flavors: Buckeye Blitz. Buckeye Blitz is actually quite tasty. It's described as a peanut butter ice creamwith peanut butter cookie dough and chocolate chips inside of it. To me, the ice cream base is not very peanut buttery andtastes almost like chocolate. The chocolate chips are huge! They are more like mini flat chocolate truffles. Very good. There'salso a fair amount of peanut butter cookie dough, although it's nothing too special. My only real qualm with Graeter's is theprice point. To me, it's definitely a splurge for the portion size, since there are many other places in Pittsburgh that offersimilar tasty ice cream at a lower price. The ice cream at Graeter?s was definitely among the tastiest that I have ever eaten in my life. I really enjoyed the taste of my... peach melba sundae and my s?mores ice cream. My husband enjoyed his chocolate and butter pecan ice creams. The ice creams costabout several dollars each, but I think that their high quality is worth the price. My experience at this store was not so great. I got a large bowl of ice cream but it was not so good. After having few scoops I... feel like I should not bought this. The outdoor seating is great. May be the next time I should try different flavors. Read more
