The dough was overstretched and inconsistent: the dough for the garlic knots was underkneaded and thus too dense (and the... toppings were inconsistent as well), and the dough for the pizza was OVERkneaded and thus the cooked pizza had huge airbubbles. For all that, though, the pizza tasted good. The dough had a good strong flavor, the sauce was just sweet enough tobalance out the yeast in the dough, and the toppings were generous and tasty. We'll be back, but hopefully when they have a moreskilled person handling the dough. Read more
Go For the Pizza, it's the star attraction, but close the stage curtain on the veggie hoagie and Chicken on the Parm... calzones! Pizza >> We ? LOVE the behemoth size, and we would do a repeat performance on this, without a doubt! On a differentorder, we got a veggie hoagie and 2 calzones and they are what Broadway would term a 'Tragedy'. The veggie hoagie was notstacked, and kind of bland even with the balsamic house dressing, definitely not generous on the veggies! After all there isnot much excitement when it comes to a veggie hoagie, but you definitely could stack it instead of this. (see photo) While theChicken on the Parm calzones, offered a nice crust, the interior contents actually were dry, and the House Blend Cheese,Ricotta, and Magic Garlic Seasoning, lacked. Instead, a few chicken tenders with a meager amount of taste, definitely not a'call back' item. We've definitely had better. Again, the Pizza is without a doubt their STAR item, and we will order encoreperformances of that, but not the Veggie Hoagie or The chicken on the Parm, as they are not the Broadway attractions we wouldsnag front row seats for. Ahhhh! My beloved Slice has opened in Wexford!! Why so excited? Well it's only the best pizza in the tri-state area and NO that... is NOT hyperbole. Chewy perfect crust, nice and thin with delicious fresh bread flavor... a sauce that tastes of basil and thevery freshest sweet tomato, very high quality mozzarella blistered perfectly in their old school deck ovens. Literally the bestpizza I've had in my life. The owner is a super cool guy too, he really cares about delivering a quality product. Last time Isaw him he told me about how he toured tomato farms in California to source the best possible sauce tomato. Now that iscommitment folks! Do not hesitate. Go get some of their thin NY style "big slice" pizza now. You will not be disappointed. Aslong as they hire good people to run the shop, I predict this place taking a major slice of the Wexford pizza economy undertheir belts (pun intended). So happy that Slice opened their new location in Wexford, just 10 minutes away from my home. We used to drive to Beechview to... get their delicious pies. Called in the order for the Rico?s favorite house pie and was advised to pickup in 30 minutes. Got tothe shop and greeted straight away, my pie was ready and checkout was a breeze. Got home and dug in, very flavorful NY styleCrust. The pepperoni and fresh grilled banana peppers are a great combo on this pizza. I normally do mot eat the crust ends,but for Slice and Fioris I always make an exception. It is like eating fresh baked Italian bread. You need to try this place ifyou have not already done so. Ok. Not bad, not great. Had a pepperoni large. Price was pretty commensurate with everyone else. Pies were a bit bigger... that most places so in that respect a pretty good deal. Read more
