Very disappointed with recent orders from Pop's. They have always been good, delicious even. But the last few times we've... ordered from them we've been unhappy. The portions have gotten noticeably smaller, specifically the fried chicken breasts aresmaller than thighs from other places and the wings are tiny with barely any meat on them. More importantly, the fried chickenis lacking flavor (how hard is it to season it once it comes out of the fryer/cooker?). The Southern Fried Chicken Bowl wasalmost inedible with clumps of mashed potatoes obviously frozen or chilled and not mixed, frozen corn bits, and gravy with notaste to it. Its just less flavor and less food for more money. We used to go out of our way to go here for good chicken butits sad that we're better just going to Shop Rite's for better tasting fried chicken for less money. Read more

I always order from this place and typically I?m very happy. Today i ordered my usual a LARGE potato salad. And it was... DISGUSTING!! Very watery and no flavor. It was so horrible I called because I wanted a refund. I?d never complain but on thisoccasion it literally made me sick just looking at it. The lady answered the phone and advised she couldn?t refund me. But thatwasn?t even the shocker. She told me how they had to get the freezer FIXED so In the meantime the FROZEN potato salad must havethawed out. EXCUSE ME?! The potato salad is frozen?! If that thawed out are you selling FISH and MEAT that has been thawing outwhile the freezer was broke? Never again. They can keep the 6.50. I?m completely grossed out. Will post to social to as I foundout about this place in the black NJ Facebook group. Read more

If I could eat this a zero I would. Pops chicken used to be INCREDIBLE! The Crispy Chicken sandwich was next level! Their fries... where crispy and golden brown. I?m not sure if ownership changed hands, but what I got in my order was nowhere near what theyused to serve. Instead of a big crunchy chicken piece on my sandwich, I now received a rubber, equivalent to Weavers make ityourself chicken patty. The fries used to be AMAZING! Now I get pale undercooked generic krinkle fries! I literally thoughtsomeone switched my meal with one from somewhere else. This is NOTHING like the Pops Chicken of old. Sorely disappointing! Aonce great place is now somewhere I wouldn?t order from. Yea I know people gotta find a way to cut cost, but to totally cutquality, I can?t support. Read more

Pops is a solid joint. The chicken is competitive with Popeyes as far as size and flavor. But their sides beat out any of the... competition. I had the yams and mac and cheese. Both were great. Their cornbread is surprisingly good as well. Pretty surethey add vanilla to the recipe. Read more

I had their spicy chicken sandwich, and French fries. The fried chicken was fresh and hot. The French fries were less salty, I... liked it. They do have tables on the deck to sit outside. Read more

Pop's Chicken is one of those places that you really never forget. This fine establishment was a side of the road eatery that... held up to its name. I find that the Service was a bit slow. Sure, BUT, The food was unbeatable. It took me home and wasreminiscent of a meal cooked by my mom. The macaroni salad was tinted yellow which intrigued me, and the vegetables were freshwith a subtle crunch that screamed homemade. The cornbread was inviting and interestingly had a hint of vanilla that ultimatelymade the cornbread, corncake?! Amazing! The chicken was so unbelievably fresh, juicy, crispy, and hot as if it had came straightfrom the frier and it had! At $10 a plate, I'm sure it doesn't get any better than this. Read more

I ordered through Door Dash and the portions were still a great size. Most restaurants tend to throw stuff together and make... smaller sizes but not this place. The menu is HUGE, there is so much to choose from. I ordered, 3 piece fried chicken meal withcreamed spinach and mashed potatoes; husband had 4 piece catfish meal with sweet potatoes and stuffing. We also had a side ofMacaroni and cheese and collard greens! I was SO shocked that the food was actually authentic and they even gave us hot sauceand tarter sauce on the side. The collard greens and creamed spinach was actually seasoned, and really well at that, plus itwasn't choppy like frozen greens other places serve. The mash potatoes and sweet potatoes were so soft and tasty. The friedchicken was actually big pieces of chicken. My greedy self was skeptical wondering how 3 would be enough but it was. It was niceand crispy and still moist. The catfish was my favorite. The fish tasted very fresh and the fried skin was crispy, and flaky(whichever describes it being light). And being that it's so delicious, I couldn't believe they serve it as 4 pieces! And theywere big pieces, at least 8 inches. The stuffing was soft, I thought it would be a crumble but it actually worked well. And omg,the cornbread was like Cake! It was so soft and moist. Idk how they got it buttery but they did! And Idk what brand tarter sauceor hot sauce they use, but it definitely tasted like a 5 star named brand. Communication was excellent. They didn't have hushpuppies for me, so they gave me the recommended Mac & Cheese with no extra charge and sent me an email about it, which was finewith me because it was also tasty. It's more cheesy than most places, although I wouldn't mind it cheesier. For all the food Ibought, I spent about 45 (not including the door dash fees & tip but it was WORTH IT). $45 for all this authentic, dinner platesized food?! Yes, I definitely recommend this restaurant and I cannot wait to try their banana pud Read more
