The tenderloins have a good thickness high quality pork no gristle or fat. the breading is light and crispy a nice ratio of... breading to pork. onion rings are nice and crispy with thick onion and a nice horseradish sauce and give them some kick. frenchfries needed more time in the fryer but still potatoey goodness. they use plastic recyclable containers instead of Styrofoamwhich is fantastic. next stop something compostable. on Tuesdays they have a two for one shrimp cocktail which means you get 10 pieces of shrimp instead of five. They have a very... spicy horseradish based cocktail sauce that people come for. Tuesday is a good night to go. I had the parmesan crusted porkwhich I highly recommend. I prefer to sit on the outside away from the road for a quieter meal. they've expanded the number ofoutdoor seats but the ones that face on the busy road would suffice in a pinch. Read more
My husband and I have drove by this restaurant many times and did not give it much attention. Silly on our part because it is a... beautiful restaurant with a delightful patio. This week we decided to try it for the first time…and then… I may have wentagain last night. The menu is captivating. While there are not any pictures the unique offerings, spin on typical dishes,hearty descriptions and fairly fair prices call to a foodie! Being that our first time was a birthday- we thought we needed totry two appetizers and got a piece of cake for dessert to share. Let’s just say we both had lunch for the next day anddessert was put on hold. Sometimes people expect small town, trendy places to be high price and small portions. We did notexperience this at LA CAFE. The ribeye was perfect, the Caprese salad was huge, and the twice baked potatoes were very filling. Heather was a wonderful server and the birthday recognition she gave my husband based on our last minute reservation sealed thedeal. We did not waste our money! Awesome place! We were there this past weekend after a taekwondo tournament in Lebanon and they were super accommodating! We had... a group of 10 and they made space for us no problem! The restaurant was nice and clean. Our waitress was amazing and the foodwas soooo good!! I had the Prime Rib special with Mac and cheese and french onion soup..... delicious!! It takes me a while to make a determination about a destination and I can say without hesitation that the LA Cafe has what it... takes to be the the "place" to go and have a great lunch or a very, very good dinner. We are new in Whitestown. And our visit to LA Cafe was completely accidental. We were impressed by the warm home-like ambiance... of this stylish place. We went on a Monday and there were lots of empty tables. Other reviews led me to think the place was fancier than it is, not... that that was a problem. It was a nice small town restaurant with a fairly standard menu. Prices were reasonable. Service wasexcellent. Food was good. Maybe I shouldn't have taken a star away because there wasn't a thing wrong with it and we liked itmore than the various chain spots. It just isn't a "fine dining gourmet" spot, but it doesn't really pretend to be. Read more
