If you don't mind waiting, ask for fresh food. I stopped in to grab some chicken liver. Being from the southern part of the US,... I was raised eating liver. Chester's is one of the few places in the area to offer them. I was stopping at Love's so I figured Iwould order some as I don't make it that way very often. When I opened my box, I was hoping for some hot, crispy fried liver.Instead, I received hard bricks of cold breading with little rubbery pieces of liver inside. I'm not an overly picky person butthey were so bad that I decided to return them and ask for a fresh order. I was immediately met with a negative attitude fromthe lady who was working at the time. I was told, in an extremely snarky, rude tone, I would have to wait. I already assumed Iwould have to wait for them to be made so this wasn't a big deal. About 5 minutes pass by and I noticed nothing has beendropped. I continue to wait. I then notice the lady pulling some piping hot liver from the fryer. She boxes them up and handsthem to a gentleman who ordered after me. I was a little taken back but I continued to wait, thinking the next batch would bedone soon. Another 10 minutes pass by, in which time the lady began cleaning a different fryer and cleaning up around the foodcase. I asked her how much longer for the order and she responded in a very stern tone, "I TOLD YOU, YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT!" Iasked her again for an estimate and sge said she hadn't even dropped them yet. At this point, I get a little upset but figuredsince she was cleaning a fryer that she was about to make them. About five more minutes pass and she comes out with a pan ofliver. She drops them in the fryer (not the one she just finished cleaning) and makes a fresh batch. After they were done, sheboxed them up, placed them on the counter and walked away. So, first off, this is a gas station chicken joint. Just like you wouldn't expect Papa John's quality from a Hot Stuff pizza,... this isn't even KFC grade. However, so far as gas station chicken goes, it tastes okay, hasn't made me sick, is usually fresh,and a $10 meal actually seems like $10 worth of food. They have a great selection of sides for a gas station. Read more
