There admittedly wasn't strong competition this past weekend, but Rudy's was the best establishment I stopped at to eat during... my recent adventures in the Lake Placid area. This was a strong recommendation from my chum, who is a local (I remain insanelyimpressed by anyone who can live here year-round - what a trooper. Not all heroes wear capes, but some of them do wear puffyvests.) and lives within walking distance. As soon as we walked in, I could see the appeal - this is the kind of place that bothlocals and tourists would be into. It's very cozy inside, with a lot of exposed wood (which describes the interior of 99% ofstructures in the Adirondacks) and somehow navigates the delicate balance of being a family friendly restaurant with amplebar/booze options. It felt like a fun winterized cabin, which I suppose makes sense in hindsight given that this is part of achalet. There were four of us in total, and we ended up getting a high-top table in the bar area - my chum initially was hopingfor outdoor seating at one of the intriguing fire pit options in front of the restaurant, but it was a touch too nippy, even fora seasoned vet. I gave the Rarebit a long, hard look but decided to go with the Lobster Roll Dinner ($28) at my chum's mildurging, which is quite the meal. As you can see from the attached, it's not one but two lobster rolls, and comes with twogenerous sides. The lobster itself was fresh/tasty. I'm not crazy about butter/wet shizzle on my lobster rolls, so for me Iwould have preferred perhaps some garlic or Old Bay seasoning to enhance the flavor, but it did the job. I accidentally ate somebar food earlier in the day in Lake George so I wasn't able to really chow down on the sides as much as I would have wanted to.The mashed potatoes were very good, but the weakest link in the chain was the lobster bisque - it's basically just meltedVelveeta-esque cheese. I didn't detect a ton of lobster in there, and it wasn't as thick as I'm accustomed to. Read more

Split the lobster roll plate with a friend, as each plate includes two lobster rolls and two sides. The rolls were tasty and... came with a generous amount of lobster. There was also a gentleman singing and playing guitar, which was a nice vibe. Read more

We had a reservation a 6 o'clock. At least they had music because we waited 1 hour and 50 minutes for our dinner. We were told... there would be a wait! I was a food and beverage manager! A half hour was certainly acceptable for scallop appetizers whichfinally came an hour and 15 minutes later. If we hadn't been with out of town guests I would have left after an hour! Lobsterroll with cold French fries. We won't be going back! Read more

We have been to coming to the Lake Placid area for vacation the past 3 years and just discovered Rudy's Scar Bar & Grille! It... truly is a hidden gem and made for the perfect night out. The service was wonderful and the space gives a very homey vibe. Weenjoyed our local beers, fish & chips, and couldn't resist ordering 2 dozen wings between the two of us. I highly recommend thedry rub! We also happened to visit during a night of live music which created a great atmosphere. The food and staff at Rudy'swere the best we have encountered during our visits here! Read more

Surprised by this little gem right near our AirBnB! Also awesome to find out it?s the same family as the Rudy?s on Lake Ontario... in Oswego! Ambiance was great, we did call for a reservation since we had a large party. Love music inside, local craft beeron tap. Food took a little long to come out but overall was pretty good! Read more

Wow! We were pleasantly surprised by this place! It?s a short drive from the KOA, and you can easily walk. Parking was in the... grass. The decor is rather unique but still a comfortable setting. Menu has a variety of options and they have a large drinkmenu. I had the lobster rolls which came with a side (I had lobster bisque) and a ton of fries. It was super delicious. Lobsterwasn?t dry! My husband had the scallops (and clam chowder) which were both amazing! My kid loved her grilled cheese. And best ofall, the prices are SOOO reasonable for what you get. I highly recommend this place and we will definitely come back if we arein the area. (My one small complaint is we did wait quite a while for our food?..but it didn?t bother me once we got ourdelicious food!) Read more

We would have eaten here for every dinner of out vacation if that was an option. The food was excellent. The lobster bisque was... spectacular, after trying some on our first visit my wife ordered the bread bowl of it on our second visit. She finished everyspoonful and that bread bowl with it's beautifully flavorful bread with a crisp crust. I also tried the clam chowder which wasalso excellent and will cause a dilemma when I return in making a selection between the two amazing options. I don't think youcan go wrong with any choice at Rudy's. Read more
