One of the best restaurant in the area. Could face waiting sometimes.

Comfortable local bar in downtown Winchester. We just went for drinks, but the atmosphere was relaxed, prices were good and... staff were all friendly. I'd definitely go back for drinks and I'd try some food while there. Read more

Generally very good food, unusual dishes like the kale/quinoa bowls or eggplant fries, more expensive than you'd expect. Mostly... good service but not always. Our last outing here was totally ruined by one waitress carelessly getting our order wrong (whywrite it down when you can roll the dice with how you remember it?). We get our dishes, my wife's is correct, mine is wrong andthe waitress insists on arguing she heard me say chicken, although I never order chicken when fish is available. I'm willing totake it just so we can enjoy a nice dinner out eating together when another waitress implies she just picked up the wrong order. So I agree to get my original order, which arrives about 40 minutes later. All they had to do was mention "your wife can eat byherself and half an hour later your food will come out and you can eat by yourself". Upshot: good food but absolutely avoidthis place if you're planning a special celebratory dinner out because one poorly-trained, unsupervised inept waitress at BlackHorse Tavern will ruin your special night out, as happened to us. Looking at other reviews, poor service at Black Horse Tavernhas been a common theme over the years, as are empty management promises to correct that. No corrections that I could report. Read more

The Black Horse Tavern was the first Tavern downtown. The First Pub arrived post this Tavern. I always found this menu here... interesting. I found it difficult to find what I want like a piece of dish, baked potato and a veggie. Today, I tried the cupof chili with a side salad. Both dishes were very good. In fact, taste wise, I found it hard to compare to the other pub. Both are excellent. Read more

I really enjoyed the fish and chips. The haddock they served me was so fresh and meaty. I also liked that it was decently... battered (but not overly) which gave it nice crunch. The coleslaw they served on the side also seems homemade and is differentbut very good from most I've tried. Classic good quality pub food. The staff was great and very accommodating of my strollerwhich can be a hassle to take to restaurants. Read more

If you like being really disappointed when you go out to dinner, this is the place for you. This place is terrible. It started... when we put our name in upon arrival. We were told it would be 30 minutes and then we noticed others getting seated who arrivedafter us. After an hour we saw the hostess crumble up the sheet with our name on it and and toss it away. We finally gotseated after an hour and 10 minutes at a filthy table that had ketchup all over it, we asked to have it cleaned again. Then oneof the bread plates came out with food all over it, yuk. After we placed our order, it took forever for the food to arrive andit wasn't even hot, warm at best and our drinks were never refilled. The waitress couldn't have cared less about taking care ofus. Given the quantity and quality of the food compared to the prices, the value isn't very good either. Bottom line, goelsewhere. Read more

Delicious! When every restaurant in Boston was packed, we took a short drive to Winchester and loved every bite!

I have eaten here twice, ordered two different flatbread pizzas (blue cheese steak & pulled pork bbq) and have to say the food... is incredible. These flatbread pizzas are some of the best I've had anywhere. Highly recommend giving these a try, and amlooking forward to tasting the rest of the menu. Read more
