My boyfriend and I attempted to try Bernstein's Deli for the first time in March after finding them online in search of a good... Reuben. To say that I was a little disappointed is an understatement when we excitedly arrived at the restaurant only to findthat they had just closed early for the day. We later learned that they were short-staffed with employees isolating at home dueto COVID-19. Fair enough. I'm glad to see a business being responsible and respecting the health of their customers and staff.Since then, I'd been eager to give them another chance the next time we were in Winnipeg. It's now May, and the Classic Reubenwith a side of tangy coleslaw and two pickle spears was well worth the wait! The sandwich had a good amount of corned beef thatwas complemented by the hot mustard. I'd also recommend the Cheese Knishes; they were mildly sweet and served with strawberrycompote and sour cream. Overall, Bernstein's was a delicious and comfortable dine-in experience. Their COVID safety precautionsexceeded recommended protocols and were much appreciated; masks were strongly encouraged and staff were wearing them, plexiglassbarriers separated the booths, and they required proof of vaccination when we were there (but are no longer doing so due to adownward trend in hospitalizations). I haven't been back here in years. It hasn't changed a bit. Well, they have added plexiglass shields between the booths, but... the food is every bit as good as I remember. I was also very pleased thar despite the vax mandate being over they asked to seemy POV, these days I really appreciate that detail. A new addition, since I was last there, was a Bison Ruben. It wasdelicious and I had a real battle saving half of it for my wife. I scared down a bowl of their borscht without pause and had toorder a bowl of their daily special, mushroom and barley, for my better half. My friend had a toasted sandwich which she alsoenjoyed. The neat thing about this place is that the restaurant is an adjunct to their deli, and you pay for your meal at theregister, which makes it very easy to make a few additions to take home. I picked up a pound (300 gr) of some very nice leancorned beef and two chicken schnitzel which did a very nice job as protein in the next days supper. It is a great place still,parking is a bit tight, but keep away from the peak hours and you will be well rewarded. 20220506 Went back for breakfast. They are still checking for proof of vaccination so imuno compromised can be a bit safer. We had latkes and sandwiches and theywere fabulous as usual. Read more

Solid Jewish deli in an unassuming strip mall in Winnipeg. The chicken fingers were nice and crispy. And the latke stacker was?... insane. Good but a bit soggy on the latke (which I?m chalking up to the steam from the takeout container issue). The imperialcookie from Gunns was delicious. Read more
Fist time here and what a great experience! Extremely friendly and helpful staff. We went for their Le burger week entry. What a... great burger if you love cheese. Great seasoned and flavorful patty. The sauce was the perfect addition to balance it all. Weabsolutely will return to try more of the menu. Read more

I have dealt with this awesome Deli for years but they have outdone themselves, I have a dear friend who has the Covid, so I... called and ordered about 5 dinners including a roast chicken all came to the same or less cost of flowers. She was extremelyhappy. I have ordered at Xmas their Turkey dinners for company and they are great. You will be so pleased and the food issooooo good, fresh and so tasty. Read more
