I tried this restaurant for the 1st time on Skip. Huge generous portions. The food is fresh and flavorful. The chicken &... vegetable chow mein was very good and one order fed 2 of us with second helpings. The grilled chicken with steamed rice wastender and cooked just right. We haven't eaten the pho yet but it is deluxe and comes with generous portions of tender beef andwe sampled the broth which was very tasty. The spring rolls were good, it was nice to have vegetarian options and mango sauce.The bonus was we also got a free dessert of sesame balls which was a delight! I?ve been going to the Golden Elephant for several months now and am finally getting around to writing a review for them! This... is my favourite place to go for food in Winnipeg. It was one of the first places I tried after moving to Winnipeg, and has sincebecome a comfort food go-to. The broth they use for their pho is probably the best I?ve ever had in North America, and theirwonton soup is particularly tasty! Their combo menu is also a TON of food for the price (I have a relatively small appetite, sothe combo meal literally lasts 3 or 4 good meals for me. My other friends who eat significantly more are still super full by theend of the meal). But my favourite things about this place are definitely the owners and the restaurant environment. The placeitself is relatively unassuming, nestled in the ground floor of a hotel. But the restaurant is so cozy and quiet. And the peoplerunning it are so incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful! It?s a great place for good conversation without feeling crowded outlike other restaurants. The owners have been really good about accommodating for food sensitivities as well.
