I tried this restaurant for the 1st time on Skip. Huge generous portions. The food is fresh and flavorful. The chicken &... vegetable chow mein was very good and one order fed 2 of us with second helpings. The grilled chicken with steamed rice wastender and cooked just right. We haven't eaten the pho yet but it is deluxe and comes with generous portions of tender beef andwe sampled the broth which was very tasty. The spring rolls were good, it was nice to have vegetarian options and mango sauce.The bonus was we also got a free dessert of sesame balls which was a delight! I?ve been going to the Golden Elephant for several months now and am finally getting around to writing a review for them! This... is my favourite place to go for food in Winnipeg. It was one of the first places I tried after moving to Winnipeg, and has sincebecome a comfort food go-to. The broth they use for their pho is probably the best I?ve ever had in North America, and theirwonton soup is particularly tasty! Their combo menu is also a TON of food for the price (I have a relatively small appetite, sothe combo meal literally lasts 3 or 4 good meals for me. My other friends who eat significantly more are still super full by theend of the meal). But my favourite things about this place are definitely the owners and the restaurant environment. The placeitself is relatively unassuming, nestled in the ground floor of a hotel. But the restaurant is so cozy and quiet. And the peoplerunning it are so incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful! It?s a great place for good conversation without feeling crowded outlike other restaurants. The owners have been really good about accommodating for food sensitivities as well. Golden Elephant Vietnamese & Thai This wonderful restaurant is located inside the Quality Inn and Suites. They share the... parking lot and the entrance with the hotel. There is ample parking. The restaurant offers Dine in, Pick Up and Delivery(Delivery apps). We have gone many times and always get a seat. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. The staff isfriendly and attentive. They have quite the large menu but they do some things very very well. I would recommend the Bánh Mì,the grilled beef is exquisite, the meat is flavourful and juicy. The chicken has an incredible flavour and it is so tender. Thebun is perfectly suited for the Bánh Mì, soft interior with a light crispy exterior. The Chicken Skewers oh so tender andpacked full of flavour. The dipping sauce was good too. The prices here are fantastic and everyone should try this place out. Read more

I was in town visiting and an acquaintance recommended this restaurant. To be honest, after seeing some of the recent reviews, I... was initially a bit skeptical. Needless to say, I am pleasantly surprised with the restaurant?s atmosphere, service, andfood. The Golden Elephant is located in the Quality Inn. Parking is readily available. It is spacious, clean, and comfortable.The service is friendly and efficient for a busy Saturday lunch hour. I cannot speak for the other reviews who have cited anegative experience on the service but I can say that I personally do not frequent restaurants based on the friendliness oftheir waitstaff. It is a bonus! The server who took our order was polite and brought our food out quickly. When we were paying,the owner was very pleasant and asked how our meal was. What more can one ask for?! On the food - it was great! I grew up herein Winnipeg and have found that there is a theme amongst restaurants to load their soup noodles with MSG and salt. After livingin Alberta and BC, I realized that it may just be a Winnipeg thing. I had the laksa which was appropriately seasoned. The restof the table had salad rolls, wonton soup, and pad Thai. The food was really good. Reasonably priced for the portion size. I'd ordered the deluxe vermicelli bowl and the chicken salad... rolls. The vermicelli was flavourful, with a good amount of meats and vegetable toppings included. Good balance of sweetness. The salad rolls were nicely filled and meticulously rolled. Holds very well with each bite. The dipping peanut sauce that camewith it was ok. Needs a bit more flavour (too bland for my taste). I'm more used to the hoisin-based dipping sauce for theirsalty and sweet flavour at other restaurants. This is a matter of preference, of course. Got a few small sesame balls filledwith a bit of sweet bean paste for free, which was a nice touch. They tasted great! This was my first time visiting thisrestaurant. Will for sure visit again to try out other items when I'm back in town! Read more
