This was my first time back at Hy's after a 15+ year hiatus. I decided to treat myself to a solo dinner as I had heard and read... great things. I started off with the roasted red pepper soup, it was delicious. There was no bread included, which I thinkwould have been a nice addition to the meal. I then had the 6oz filet with mashed potatoes and was told I could order a halfportion of veggies as it was just for me, which was great! (all the sides here are extra, most meals only come with the meat andpotatoes) My meal came out pretty quickly and everything tasted good but nothing was spectacular. I had asked for my steakmedium and by the time I got to the middle of my steak, it was borderline rare. My server was really friendly and checked inoften enough so I did mention this in passing. I told them they could just redo that same steak and they ended up giving me newpotatoes and new mushrooms. The redone steak was OK - still a bit on the underdone side but I let it slide. The potatoes andmushrooms were cold so it seems like they had already plated up potatoes and just used that, rather than giving me hot freshones. I had also mentioned to my server that I'd be interested in wine for the main course. But, they never came back to get mywine order, which would have been a super easy sell. I let that slide too, no big deal as I had a drink with my appetizer. Atone point I assume my server got busy in another section so another gentleman was helping me, his service was great. I had adecaf with baileys and the key lime pie, both were a good way to end this OK meal. Overall, after spending over $140 for justmyself, I had such high expectations but it was an underwhelming experience. One of the most spectacular restaurants I’ve visited in Winnipeg Downtown. The service is just incredible, all the staff... members from the hosts to the waiters were amazing. And the food was just brilliant. Tried two different types of steaks alongwith their oysters and everything was perfect. Absolutely no complaints at all. I enjoyed a nice Sunday dinner. First and foremost the service was excellent. The food was amazing as well. For appetizers I... had the sautéed prawns, the sauce it came with was great for dipping the garlic toast into as well. I ordered the BeefWellington with a baked potato. The toppings were served personally which was a nice touch. And Hys Famous cheesecake fordessert. I would highly recommend eating here. And will return again. Read more

Great dining experience. When we arrived, the front staff were welcoming and friendly, and offered to take our coats. We were... then escorted to our seats upstairs, where we were greeted by our waiter, Glenn. Glenn was very pleasant and attentive (refilledour water glasses when it was low etc), and answered all the questions that I had about food / drinks. The food was amazing anddelicious. We ordered the oysters rockefeller, but they didn't have any oysters (due to the supply chain issue and the flood inB.C) so we were subbed with the bacon and scallops, we also ordered the steak neptune, peppercorn steak, and also ordered thebananas foster. We have our anniversary dinner at Hy’s. Great experience, and food are incredible delicious. Such a great evening and thanks... for the service team. If you park your car nearby, don’t forget to give the parking ticket to the reception when you’releaving, they will take care of it for you. :) Read more

We had a FANTASTIC TIME tonight with Benjamin as our server. Everything was perfect, atmosphere, service and food. Cheesy... bread was delicious, French onion soup was superb, steak and lobster was delicious and the sou vide chicken was very tasty. The service was excellent with great timing and every one of our needs were thought out and we never had to wave someone down tofetch something that was missing. We ended the meal with bananas foster which quite a performance and very delicious. We havedone some fine dining in Montreal lately but none of that compares to this evening meal. Read more
