It was a horrible experience. Me and 5 other people went there around 6:50 pm for supper. There were hardly NO people there but... we were told it would still be a 20 minute wait. While we are waiting, two couples walked in and were seated immediately. I wentand asked why are we waiting and the reply was there was only one waitress that could wait on our group. I looked behind the counter and there stood 5 or 6 head huddled together. Why couldn't one of them wait on us? I preceeded to tell her that weweren't waiting the 20 minutes nor would they get our business. We walked out and went to Mayflower which were understaffedalso but she took us rite on back to a table. Our waiter was awesome and he made 26 dollars in tips. If there is a next time,we will call ahead and make sure there are enough people there that's not to lazy to help us. Horrible business practices! This restaurant has a parking lot next to another restaurant that I go to a lot! We parked in... their lot after their business hours and we were towed. Yes, there was a sign so that is not my issue. Robert Adams/ KINGSTOWING did not tow the car to a business but to a residential home on a DARK street. They charged $260 CASH ONLY to release thecar that was put behind their PERSONAL RESIDENTS chain link fence and blocked in! He refused to give us a receipt and wasextremely intimidating and rude. I am a local business owner myself who pays my taxes and has a PHYSICAL business location so Iknow how a ligament business is classified. I will NEVER eat at Dixie Queen again! It speaks volumes with the economy we livein that our locally owned business can not work together to help their neighbors after your closed with a simple parking spot! While dining in I noticed an unidentified object on my plate. After discreetly notifying our waitress, she went to the owner and... manager who did nothing. The waitress asked several times knowing the object should not have been there however still nothing. Ieven asked the manager who told me she couldn't do anything because the owner wouldn't. So because $16.99 was too much to creditus, they lost our business completely. Hope it was worth it.Our waitress was Sunshyne and she was fantastic. Read more
Selfish greedy owner! I spend my money here so often that one of my clients bought me a $200 gift certificate to use here. I... did not always remember to bring it which was fine but the last time I tried to use it in July the cashier advised me it hadexpired in March so she asked The owner if it could be extended and he told her ?no? On this particular evening I had spentabout $60 which included take home desserts. yes, it?s my fault for letting it expire but this handwritten certificate couldhave been extended Especially since I was planning to continue giving them my business So the owner gladly took the $200 for thecertificate but he was too greedy to let me use all of it. Food is always great here. Their seafood is always fresh no matter the time of the year you good. There is usually a 10-15... minute wait, but it?s worth waiting for. As you are seated in your table, the table has paper placemats, silverware and 3 warmhushpuppies waiting for you. The server quickly takes your drink order, follow by more hushpuppies, and then your foodorder. The food comes out relatively quick, it?s hot and fresh. You can tell it?s name with love and the owners are proud ofthe restaurant without a doubt. The sides are great, I got the sweet potato and salad perfect size to go allow with my mediumbroiled shrimp and garlic butter. So yummy!! Please don?t expect fancy plates they are disposable. Which it?s great, easier toclean up. If you are an ice lover, the ice here it?s the perfect size to chew and eat without making a mess. My in-laws visitDixie Queen usually once week, I see why. Wow! I was taken here for dinner by a friend while on a trip to Grifton. She's been going here for years and that's about all... she would say.. We popped in around 5:15pm - 5:30pm, seated immediately and the place was already 90% full. It's very basicinside, almost like a cafeteria, don't let this full you. Our waitress came by took the drink orders and and was back in a flashwith our glasses of Mt. Dew and an order of hush puppies for each of us. There was a big bowl full those butter already on thetable. BTW, hush puppies are pretty much unlimited, as the waitress brought them to the table at least 3 times each withoutasking for more. We each ordered the fried shrimp dinner, which comes with two sides, and again within just a few minutes ofplacing the order the entree was on the table. This was really good shrimp. It was lightly battered, cooked perfectly and verytender. The cocktail sauce was excellent as well. The best way to describe its consistency would be to say it reminds me of amarina sauce. Thin and served at room temperature, not lumpy or cold. It is delicious, perfect for dipping and has a little bitof a spicy kick to it! By the time the meal was over the place had filled to capacity and there were others waiting in thelobby to get inside. If we had a Dixie Queen back home in Va. Beach I dare say they would put a lot of these seafood places outof business. What a great meal! Read more
