Hidden gem. Old and outdated but the food is always bang on for what you pay. Always recommend this place to friends and family in the area.
We have been enjoying food from this location for over 15 years when we first were introduced to the restaurant in Woodbridge. Excellent food, fresh ingredients and wonderful service. During COVID years - we used their delivery option for take out and in all the times we have ordered food from them - its always amazing, hot and the order is 100% accurate. Highly recommend!
Very good food. Not as unhealthy as ?standard? Chinese food, so if you?re looking for cheap crispy heavily breaded food, then you may not like this. They give lots of meat and veggies compared to places where it?s mainly rice or noodles. Food is very fresh and good quality. It?s a bit more expensive than other Chinese food restaurants, but for the reason I just mentioned.
Excellent Chinese food. Been going here for ages and recently dined in for lunch. I enjoyed one of their lunch combos that comes with choice of main (I had ginger beef), plain fried rice and choice of chop suey or vegetables. I also added a wonton soup (so good). Everything was delicious. Highly recommend.
I was new to the area and a neighbour recommended this place, so I decided to try it. We ordered sweet and sour pork for takeout, and asked for it to be extra crispy (which was confirmed by the staff). When we got home, we were extremely disappointed that not only it was not crispy at all, there was absolutely no batter to the meat pieces, which were just very tough strips of pork sitting in a pool of sweet and sour sauce. We agreed it was the worst sweet and sour pork we ever had (and we are very accommodating and understanding to the different styles). I called the restaurant right away and told them about this, only to be told "this is how this dish is done here". Oh well, I guess that was the first AND LAST time to patronize this restaurant. These days, we travel quite a bit further, to Ann's Congee, for much more decent sweet and sour pork!
I suggest go for the pork tenderloin vs. ribs so much inedible fat. Ginger beef was strange, cornstarch overload. The rest is standard, lo mein, sweet and sour pork, beef and broccoli.
There were 13 of us out for a birthday dinner and heard great reviews on the restaurant from a couple of friends who love the place....they were spot on. First off, Burt was an incredible host for the night, great recommendations that everyone loved and great conversation. Unlike other Chinese restaurants, they prepare everything upon ordering...none of this pre-made food that is sitting on hot plates in the kitchen! That sold me forever. You could taste the freshness with every meal that came out. Don't judge the restaurant from the outside, looks like an old restaurant, but beautiful inside...very clean, and well-kept. There is a second location, of the same name....with different ownership, so this review is only for the Martin grove location.
I have been to a lot of restaurants and I have to say that the service we received her was absolutely the best. The staff was extremely professional and I felt like I was dinning at very high end place . Food was fresh and tasted amazing. I would definitely come back here!
