Heard about this restaurant from my 13 year old daughter and we wanted to try it out, when we got there from a long drive 10... miles from her home and me, I drove up from Beacon , we arrived to a somewhat busy restaurant, however, there were still plentyof seating available, but we were turned away, siting “ all the seats are booked and everyone who was NOT already there wasmagically going to show up all at once at 6:00pm, me as a father who was trying to get some food into my daughter quick, becauseshe starved herself all day just for the occasion saw it differently. We were asked to wait somewhere else and if something wasmade open they would call us…I saw a headcount of ALL white people and being a black brit living in a country COMPLETELYdivided along racial lines, I saw it totally different. I’ve NEVER experienced so much racial division or racial stereotypesuntil I came here to attend college in the early 80’s. As for our plans for a chill night out, enjoying a good Japaneserestaurant, we had to settle for a long drive to Rhynebeck and experience Japanese cuisine not fit for a petrol station…. Poorquality, small portions and a hefty bill ????, however, this restaurant in Woodstock will NEVER GET ME TO RETURN. Now they’veresponded with damage control after we were turned away and left feeling insulted. Apologies NOT ACCEPTED! Read more

Great staffing.\n\nSushi was incredibly fresh.\n\nTheir time from order to service is impressive. If you\'d like some quick... fresh rolls they\'re an option.\n\nBelow are just personal flavor based judgments:\n\nTo me there seemed to be no vinegar intheir rice and it had a starchy taste.\n\nUnagi was very nicely cooked for it\'s roll, probably some of the most flavourful andwell cooked I\'ve had, but they also drizzle the eel sauce that it\'s basted in on the roll which makes the flavour overwhelmingrather than a nice portion of the bite, despite a bit over half of the roll being the nice fresh avocado. I feel without thedrizzle of eel sauce and just a little portion of cucumber aside the avocado it would be one of the best rolls I\'ve had despitethe rice.\n\nThe shrimp tempura roll had almost as much julienned cucumber as shrimp in it, which overwhelmed all other texturesand flavors, even though this roll also has the eel sauce drizzled on top. I also don\'t think I\'ve seen such a small shrimp ina roll before.\n\nThe spicy crunchy scallop roll was mostly spicy mush, no crunch. I don\'t believed I\'d had raw scallopbefore, the texture was very similar to a nice fatty tuna, but the overwhelming \"spicy crunch\" bit left little room appreciateit.\n\nEven the normally safe California roll was disappointing in it\'s execution to me without the vinegar tanginvolved.\n\nFlavours and textures are all personal opinions, everyone has their own preferences.\n\nEverything was quick,INCREDIBLY fresh, prepared very well in their cuts from fish to veg, and rolled nicely. *Final edit: After the aforementioned conversation, I was offered a free meal for my trouble, which I finally took them up on... today. We got a few rolls, shumai, miso soup, and mochi, to go. It was all delicious and the presentation was lovely. The blackpepper tuna was the standout. Such a great flavor and it just about melted in my mouth. The Pink Lady roll was not for me. Idon\'t want to give the impression that it was bad, it definitely wasn\'t. I would say that I liked it, but didn\'t love it. Andunfortunately, the mochi was left out of the bag. I don\'t know if it was overlooked or maybe it was supposed to be added to thebag when I picked it up because it was ice cream and they didn\'t want it melting before I got there. But I didn\'t feelcomfortable going back for it because the order was gratis. But overall, it was a really good meal and the restaurant, itself isreally nice. Great date night vibe.\n\n*Edit: one of the owners reached out and we had a productive conversation. I am trustinghim to follow through on the effort to work with his business partner and landlord to complete the clean up of the wetlands. Iwill update this again, hopefully with a glowing review of a successful clean up, good food, and a renewed friendly neighborhoodcamaraderie.\n\n[I deleted my first review now that the issue is resolved.] Read more

Wow! What an outstanding experience! For starters, try one of their their drink specials. Sushi, rolls, soup, salad, Saki all... top notch. I think what we loved the most though was the staff. Truly wonderful and welcoming. We will definitely be back! Read more
