Ate here tonight for the first time and it was outstanding! Service was spot on and the food was fresh and full of flavor. We... had the swordfish and the skirt steak and both were exceptional. Excellent dinner, start to finish. Waitstaff was also attentive and friendly. It's more than just "tapas", which could easily... just be called "appetizers." Regular full meals are also available. In addition to specialty drinks, a full bar is availableand dessert was very good too. Read more
I'm from Miami and my wife of 54 years is Cuban so we know something about Cuban food so when we say that Melaza's Cuban... sandwich is the best we've ever had, that says a lot. Their guac is also excellent. My only complaint is that this time theflank steak I ordered had gristle that made it hard to finish. The accompaniments however, were very tasty. Service wasexcellent because we got there right as they were opening for dinner so the crowds hadn't happened yet so I suggest you goearly. I wish they were open for lunch because I'd probably eat a Cuban sandwich once a week. Read more
When I walked in it seemed chaotic. The bar was full of dirty glass, you couldn’t even sit. My friend and I asked the host if... we could sit she said yes. Apparently they stop setting @8 so she wasn’t supposed to seat us but regardless doesn’t justifythe bartender behavior. We didn’t know that we were supposed to be seat until we left the restaurant. We sat next to the barat a high table and no one acknowledged us for about 6 minutes keep in mind the bartender is at the bar. He was busy had a lotof cups to clean so he was trying to get that done and we were being patient but no one said hi and we walked by 3 servers. Myfriend kindly said “if it’s easier we can just come to you to get the drinks” he responded and said “ I don’t havetime to worry about that right now”. No one else was in the area but her and I so it was directed towards her. He ended upmaking our drinks but the whole time he was very rude and angry while making our drinks. I went up to the bar later to getanother drink and he was mad I asked for another. He was to busy to make sure the customer experience was nice. So much for afirst impression. I won’t be returning! The cuisine was unreal. I got the pork shank and it fell off of the bone it was so tender. The steak my husband got was cooked... to perfection and so well seasoned. The tres leche cake was also sublime. We originally dined here because it was the onlywell-rated place that was open on a Monday night but next time we visit Woodstock we’ll seek it out regardless of what else isopen because we were so impressed by the quality of flavors and the service! Service was very slow. We waited approximately ten minutes to be acknowledged & seated despite having a reservation. It was an... additional five minutes before anyone took our drinks & appetizer order, without writing down anything. Surprisingly, the serveronly made one error for our party of four. Although we went on a not too busy Saturday evening, it seemed like they were shortstaffed. Our server was obviously overwhelmed but did her best & we were understanding. Service issues aside, the food & drinkswere delicious. The presentation was wonderful and the portions were great. Food The food was good, and the drinks were phenomenal. The reason I didn’t give it a five star rating is because the food... wasn’t perfect. The empanadas had too much dough, so the wrap was too thick. The garlic shrimp sauce was top notched, and Icould have drank the sauce by itself, but the shrimp itself was bland. The scallop was not bad, but it didn’t go well with therisotto. The desserts were good, but again not great. Everything else The service was good. Read more
Granted, it was a holiday weekend, but the service was awful. We waited over a half hour just to get our drinks. The young lady... at the front as you walked in clearly became overwhelmed trying to both seat patrons and help wait staff. After we were seated,bar tender was yapping with folks at the bar instead of getting drinks out. The empandas were great. The pork shank was amazingexcept that it only came with barely 4 tablespoons of mashed potatoes. The desserts were perfect. Ask prices for the marketpriced entrees because we thought that they were very expensive and ordered other things as a result. We understand that placesare understaffed.
