Veterans discount Woo Hoo! Thank you for this. The money I save on the discount goes to the server, who was excellent in this... case. Where to start about the wounderful place. Beautiful and super clean restaurant. This place is worth the drive if youare ever in the area. Well worth the drive if you are within 60 miles. They are closed on Monday and Tuesday though. Chickenfried steak amd hand made and not frozen. Best I have had in a long time. The fried green tomatoe sandwich is a huge hit withanyone, Especially the women. Great onion rings and froed okra. I was stuff leaving and didn't save room for their famous friedpies. People that sat next to us said, order dessert first and tale half.of you meal home for later its so good. The owner isgreat and the service is first class. If you are reading thos review to the end, plan a trip. I am going back for SundayBrunch buffet. Heard it was amazing. Read more
There is alot to like about Mugsys! The atmosphere is very friendly, very laid back. The decor is fun to look at, & has some... patriotic flavor to it. We were there for a long time, & never felt pressured to leave. The food is good, even on the verge ofgreat. The service is excellent. The fried pies?now that?s worth driving over for! Well, the local High School Marching Band isn't the only Pride of Yale! The food, waitstaff and atmosphere are all top notch... here. I was asked if I would like some bread as soon as I was seated and to my surprise the brought out two delicious rolls andcinnamon butter that you could actually taste the cinnamon. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with mashed potatoes with gravyand the Spicy Cowboy Beans. OH MY, those beans had an excellent flavor and was not over powered with black pepper! ???? Themashed potatoes were NOT instant, again,????????. The Chicken Fried Steak was large and tender and absolutely delicious. Overall, everything food wise was perfect. The only complaint I have is that the tables for the booths do not move and it is veryuncomfortable to sit in being a larger guy. If you know, you know. We have driven by here a few times, and just knew we had to make our visit soon. On this Friday night the environment was great,... alot of people laughing, smiling, just enjoying themselves. Mugsy's has become our go to place for gormet food. Very close attention is paid to the quality brought to your table, not only... in the food but the service as well. The price? Very reasonably! Want something different than the menu? No problem for thesefolks! I have had 8 items off the menu and tasted more, would not hesitate to order anything that sounded good. The place ishomey with top notch service and food. Edit: Ordered the catfish dinner. I've always bragged about the quantity and quality ofthis restaurant. However, the catfish dinner reminded me of a bad day fishing. The menu doesn't say how much fish you will get.That being said. Two fillets from fish about 3 or 4 lb. 3 hush puppies and a piece of lettuce. Raise that a couple of bucks ifyou have to. 4 fish fillets and a basket of hush puppies. I have only been to Mugsy's twice now and I love it. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The staff is friendly and attentive.... I had ribs the first time and a rib eye this go around. Both were excellent! One of the best steaks I've had in some time! Thesteaks are priced a little high but still reasonable for the quality. I will definitely be going again!
