I was in town for the car show and looking for a snack. The pizza from this place was really good. All the toppings were in... perfect proportions and as fresh as I could have hoped for. The sauce was also very good. I'll eat here again anytime and tryother options but the Pizza was first rate. I also had it delivered and the person told me a 45 minute to one hour wait. We were at the car show so it was very busy when we arrived. Service was fast, lunch special was cheap and it was delicious. We... had the specialty slice and Caesar salad for $6.95. I love this family owned, super friendly little place. I enjoyed their rice bowl with falafel. It also has pickled turnips... which adds a wonderful tanginess. After I was stuffed from my meal, I spoke to one of the owners and asked about a local foodcalled Donair. She asked me if I would like to try it and then gave me a plate piled with thinly shaved meat, which is similarto gyro, and served with a white sauce. We were in Yarmouth visiting my brother and thought we would try Jake's Family Restaurant as we always try to support the... smaller businesses when possible. The staff was super helpful, friendly and nice which is why I am giving this a 2 star insteadof a 1 star. Please note this review is based on the food taste, flavour and quality of what I had which was a chicken shawarmasalad. Please note that I do not like leaving poor reviews but I need to be honest about my experience. Also please keep inmind that I am comparing this to authentic Lebenese food and quite honestly this should not be called Lebanese food as authenticshawarma is tender, juicy and bursting with flavour. The chicken was dry, and did not taste fresh. I think I ate about a 1/3 ofthe plate (forcefully) as I really do not like wasting food but I just couldn't eat any more even though I was hungry. I alsofelt the dish was way overpriced for what I got. I paid over $20 for a large salad and a bottle of water that I could barelyeat, when in Halifax I can get a full authentic chicken shawarma plate for $11.99 + tax that includes freshly made lentel rice,chicken, tabboulie, toum, hummus, pickles and a whole pita. I am not sure about the other food they serve as it very well couldbe good, and I would assume they must serve decent food as this place seemed to be fairly busy but I certainly will notrecommend the Shawarma salad.
