I am from Michigan and grew up loving Buddy?s, the original. Every time I see a Detroit pizza while traveling I try it. I took... dozens of iterations to master making it at home, even having the hard to find brick cheese flown in from Wisconsin, blendingtwo types of flour, and trying many brands of premium yeasts and proofing techniques. Biked past here in the morning and saw the sign for the Detroit style pizza. Vowed to come back and changed plans to make it... that evening. Previous photos made the pizza look like a work of art and my experience confirmed that and did not disappoint.Just the right amount of crisp all around the edges of the rectangle, the pepperonis were curled up and the dough nice and softin the middle. There were just two employees working their butts off, one in the kitchen doing all the cooking and the other guyout front doing a great job of helping the customers and making everyone feel welcome. I love this place! The dough is airy and buttery. Perfect crunch but soft on the inside. The pizza and weekly specials are... phenomenal. Mozzarella sticks are bomb too. This place doesn't disappoint. Read more
The person taking the order really couldn?t be bothered.. 43$ and a 5$ tip for seriously burnt chicken tenders and ?Detroit?... style pizzas. I feel sorry for the folks of Detroit if this is their representation. It was Luke warm at best and the sauce hadtasted like it been sitting in the fridge for a few days the cheese and dough were right I guess but didn?t live up to thepictures that made me excited to try this place for the first time. I could taste that the fry oil hasn?t been changed inprobably a week or more from when it should have been ? disappointed in a place I had high hopes for, because I love all stylesand flavors of pizza and tenders but man 50$ for what I got just doesn?t seem right. The pizza was good. Good pepperonis and liked the cheese. Crust was golden and crispy but a little greasier than I?d like though... I feel like that is how this type of pizza is made. I?ve never had Detroit style pizza before. Definitely nice to try adifferent style of pizza. I do wish there was more sauce so I will have to ask for more on the side next time. This pizza is better than I deserve. The middle is soft and melts in your mouth. The edges are crispy and make me cry small... tears of satisfaction. I wish I strong enough to eat 6 of these pizzas tonight. Unfortunately I am a weak little boy and Ionly finished 1. Serve Dante's pizza at my wedding. Serve it at my funeral. Cater it for my kids birthday parties. MaybeI'll even have kids just so I can get this pizza for their birthdays. And why is the staff nice? I didn't know you could makefood this good and be happy.
