Extremely misleading and disappointing. Attempted to go here after reading an insert in a local magazine and viewing their... website. The place is dark and desolate with no indoor seating/tables and is part of an adjoining gas station. Was cravinggrilled scallops and grilled crab cakes (according to website menu both are available), however neither were available and waslimited to fried foods that were being kept hot under heat lamps. Absolutely delicious!! We got a Burl?s chicken sandwich, Fish tacos (blackened), fish bites & fries! Everything was cooked... perfectly, even after getting it to go and eating at home! Staff was super friendly and patient while we decided. Everything wasclean. Great experience all around & we?ll definitely be back to try more!! Read more
Got the roast beef au jus. It is disgusting, and completely inedible. The beef taste and smells almost spoiled. And for the... price they charge this is absurd it not be at least edible? Waste of time and money, don?t serve slop. Read more
A conversation about what was the best chicken in the Newport News/Hampton/York County area came up and the Dare Deli was... brought up several times. Well I will admit I was skeptical when I was told this out of the way location was the best? But sofar out of all the places I?ve visited so far in this region the Dare Deli has everyone beat! We are from Chesapeake and were out in the area and decided to give this place a try. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted.... The decor is fun and provides a relaxing atmosphere. They have lots of drink/ alcoholic drinks to chose from. We tried thesampler and over all were satisfied and full. We both loved the fried shrimp batter. My husband is very picky and finally founda place that cooks tuna bites perfectly (hot with pink center), he did say a little more seasoning and they would have beenperfect. Unfortunately I will not be visiting this Deli again. I ordered a sub with no spicy or jalepenos and I got just that!!! 3... sandwiches all spicy ...I suppose I should have checked before leaving the store but usually find great service with smallbusinesses Unfortunately that was not the case. I realize mistakes happen but I would not have expected the store manager toaccuse me of lying. He did eventually after talking over me, offer me a store credit. I dont want a store credit, I want themto know that they are messing with peoples lives when they serve foods that cause allergic reactions. Its ashame because I lovesupporting small business. I will not be returning. The risk outweighs the reward, especially knowing their manager doesnt seemto care. P.S. dont leave your personal information for employees to be revengeful. Read more
