I made it to Handel's before they closed standing in line behind a Caucasian woman for 15 minutes and with 3 minutes left they... open another window and ask me what I want I say Banana Split and they immediately got rude telling me they have no more dishesto use to make it but had no problem making what the Caucasian woman in front of me ordered. First time visiting Handel's and found it from a Google search while visiting the area. My mom, dad, neice, my two boys and I,... all had great ice cream here. We had vanilla, blue moon, pecan praline and butter pecan all on waffle cones, I think. Very good,no complaints. My dad who is an ice cream expert (IMHO) commented how good it was, so that's saying something. He just turned71. Read more
The WORST Handels I?ve ever been to. Tried this place 3 times and every single time my pint has nothing in it but PLAIN ice... cream. I ordered chocolate peanut butter brownie and got nothing but a pint of chocolate ice cream then got mud pie and gotnothing but a pint of plain coffee ice cream. Not to mention the workers are not friendly at all. Ridiculous Edit: went backtoday 4/5/22 to try them again cause I was so sick of getting PLAIN ice cream with NOTHING in it, and it was the exact samething as last time. Conveniently located on Belmont Avenue in Liberty right near the highway. I've been going to Handels Ice Cream ever since I was... a teenager and I'm as old as dirt now so that's alot of ice cream cones lol. Handels is pure Youngstown and I'm pretty confidentto say that every Youngstowner has eaten their ice cream more then once, it's that amazing, it's so good that its said that thenow infamous Bill Cosby had Handels ice cream shipped to him on a regular basis on dry ice, now that alone speaks volumes on howgreat the ice cream is. They have a flavor menu that overwhelms, theres that many flavors to choose from, as for me my favoriteis a double scoop, one scoop of coconut cream pie and the other scoop cake batter, I just had one yesterday and I'm givingserious consideration to going to get another today, lol.
