Ever since they opened, I have loved American Char! You can smell the wood smoking as soon as you get within a few blocks. They... have so many different kinds of sauce and pretty much any barbecue smoked meat you could think of. My favorite is the brisket.They used to have several ice cream dessert options, but I think they got rid of that when they added their wood-fired pizzaoven. It's a small place and there's not a lot of room to sit, but it's worth it ? as long as you get there before too late atnight. They are one of those places that only sells a food until they run out of whatever they made that day. I had briskettacos for the first time today. They are just brisket, sauce, and slaw on a tortilla with a single pickle slice, so I'm not asbig of a fan of the tacos because you could get those things separately. They have some kind of amazing secret recipe butterthat they put on the mashed potatoes and it's fantastic. Their mac and cheese is somewhat smokey and baked with just a littlebit of heat. The wings and pizza were fabulous, and strongly recommended! I personally am not a chicken wing fan, but this was good. The beef... was good. The chicken was however very dry. All in all a pleasant place. We see lots of people doing takeaways. Also, it wouldbe nice if they allowed some substitution of certain meats for the sets. We wanted to order the Char Sampler set, but it had twopork items, and we don't really eat pork. We were told that substitutions were not allowed. Read more
Cool place and pretty solid BBQ. My pulled pork had excellent flavor and good char. I did find it to be a little on the dry... side, not too bad though. Sides were good especially the potato salad. Top it off with some awesome hand dipped ice cream. Goodplace for for some good food for sure. Read more
Really good brisket, better than most. Mac n cheese noodles seemed a little under done, but good nevertheless. Wish you could... get more for the money...1/2 of meat was $9 and sides are about $3 each. Read more
