Our family stayed in the Boston Bay suite for four nights to do some hiking over a long weekend. No complaints. The layout was... great for us and our three kids. The room was tastefully decorated with nice touches. They offered snacks and beverages forpurchase, which was nice due to the remoteness of the area. The location on the lake was beautiful. We dined at the restauranttwo of our nights. The staff was friendly and attentive. We had a variety of drinks, food, and desserts over the two nights, andeverything was good. We’ll be back! Read more
Had the greatest time here with my husband!!!! Beautiful room and a perfect weekend for us- loved sitting by the fire all night.... Food service was slow but that wasn't an issue for us as we were staying in a room there so we had all day! Drinks were reallygood to keep us occupied while we waited. Quite a beautiful little place of warmth and beauty on beautiful Balsam Lake! The menu was just right. Plenty of options, but... not too big to be confusing or distracting to its intentions. Food was good, as was the maple old fashioned! We even sat in thecomfy chairs next to the fire after dinner! The outside fire was also being enjoyed by guest. Went at 3pm on a Sunday and it was very empty. Was slightly worried about staffing issues since it was so dead, but our... waitress was attentive, without being overly so. Waitress and bartender were extremely friendly and polite. Food was excellentand the atmosphere was very pleasant. We will definitely be back! Read more
DO NOT GO HERE!!! If I could turn back time, we would have listened to friends and read the reviews closer! We had a horrible... experience last Sunday! We were there for 2 hours and 20 minutes! We bussed our own table from appetizers, had to get our ownwater from the bar, we fetched our own napkins and ketchup and steak sauce when our food finally came! The food order wasn’tright and the food wasn’t good! The worst part though? No apologies! We were mocked and argued with by the staff and themanager! On our way out, they celebrated by saying “looks like we’re drinking tonight”! We’re from out of town andrented a cabin for a week and I was really looking forward to a special night out to dinner with my parents, adult children andour grandson (he’s 11 months old and got cold macaroni and cheese 2 hours after we arrived)! Great vibe with live music solo artist Barry Nelson. Great vibe with audience. Just right background music. Great food, at very... reasonable prices. Don't let the luxurious ambience scare you off! We were not greeted upon arrival, then asked to seat ourselves. We were not offered menus, and had to ask for them after 20... minutes. Waitress forgot our salads and a few other things. Service was generally bad and food was average and barely warm.Steak was sent back once, and overcooked both times. Server presented the check without asking if we needed anything else. Erikaneeds to step up her game as a server or step down from her position. We were treated very poorly considering the price and"pride in your service" I read about in another review. You would be better off getting fast food, you would probably findbetter service there. It was an overwhelmingly disappointing experience, there is potential in this restaurant, but obviouslythe staff we met were not trying to reach for that. Read more
We have enjoyed this place for years. They have had some up and downs with ownership, but you can’t argue that it is one of... the most beautiful settings in the area.
