Shakou, located in downtown Barrington has been on my list for a while now and finally made it to celebrate a birthday . The... moment I walked in I was impressed by the interiors and stylish decor. We had reservations and were seated within minutes. Iloved their menu, so many good options to choose from. We started with the stuffed jalapeños, Shumai soup, and seven spicy ahi!All three dishes were excellent . The stuffed jalapeños has just the right kick to it and loved the crunchiness. The Shumaisoup was so flavorful and the shrimp dumplings tasted great. The Seven spicy ahi was just wow, loved the flavors in it. Nextwe ordered the signature rolls - AAC, Urban Heat, Raging Bulls, and Dragon Fire. Each of the rolls were prepared with thefreshest ingredients and were beautifully presented. Each roll had its own unique flavor and tasted amazing . Executive ChefSang Choi and his team have done an excellent job of serving the finest Asian cuisine . The four star review is because theservice was not at par with the food . The host was really welcoming but our server did not make us feel welcome at all. It wasa Friday night so the place was really busy which could be the reason why they were so rushed. Overall the food and vibe is a10/10. Do check it out for delicious sushi and more. Read more
Shakou is a great place to go for sushi but a lot of the other items on their menu are really good. I’m not a huge fan of the... loud music but I do enjoy the rooftop patio when the weather is nice. My favorites are the appetizers-Seven spicy ahi and lambchops are delish. The salmon is also done well-crispy on the outside and flavorful. Great place to go with family and friendsas well as a date. Amazing place with outstanding food and service!!! It was our 1 marriage anniversary and we decided to go to Shakou Barrington!... Our waitress was so professional and gave us amazing recommendations about the food and drinks , we loved it! Plus we gotcomplimentary champagne and dessert ?? The atmosphere was great!! Top 10! Minimal variety for vegetarians but dishes were really good. Their veggie futo sushi roll was amazing. Music was a little too... loud for any comfortable conversation. Service was top notch. Might have been even better if the patio was open. Read more
Amazing ambience, perfect for a date night. Drinks are fun and fresh. I ordered the pear cocktail which tasted exactly like a... fresh pear! Food was delicious and The edamame was the best I’ve ever had. The staff was very attentive. Overall a greatexperience, I will be back soon when the rooftop opens for warmer weather. Contemporary Asian-inspired cuisine with a flair for presentation, and more important, flavor. The Shakou Salad had a marvelous... creamy ginger salad dressing. We did not have reservation- hostess was exceptional and gave us a table. The food was fresh, tasty - very good. The only... inconvenience (Minor) - not conversation friendly once packed. Overall- highly recommended. Sushi was exceptional, so weresups and salats. Read more
If I could give 10 stars I would. The wait staff are helpful and very knowledgeable. The upstairs outside seating is so... romantic. And the food, the food was some of the best sushi I have had. It was really cool that not only do they make each rollwhen ordered, but you can change it up if you like. Read more
