Stop #11 on our Pizza Tour 2022...Mama Rosina's in Bound Brook, NJ. Being located in the old train station made for some cool... architecture as well as some dine-in train watching. They have an outdoor trackside seating area as well. Instead of our usualslices (I'm not even sure they do slices) we opted for a full pie with pepperoni. Also got a side of meatballs (excellentmeatballs). Very tasty crust...crisp outside, chewy inside, obviously made from very fresh dough. Good tomato basil sauce andtop quality cheese (I believe the mozzarella is fresh grated). Sauce was perfectly spiced, not too sweet or bitter. Pepperoniwas good and spicy, as expected. Awesome restaurant and experience! We arrived early to our reservation and our table was immediately ready. Within a couple of... minutes, bread and a pitcher of water were delivered to our table. The waiter promptly took our order and we received our drinksfrom the bar which were delicious. My kids loved the shirley temples and the wine was great! Our meals were excellent, hugeportions, delicious home made salad dressing, and the desserts were equally as good! The staff was very attentive and quick tohelp with anything extra we needed. We left with leftover food and wine. As we were getting into our car, our waiter even ranoutside after us to bring us our leftover wine that we somehow accidentally left on the table. We were just visiting from out oftown, but we wished we lived closer as we would definitely be regular customers! Read more
Horrible is the least I can say. We sit down and my friends are a bit irked about the place. The waitress, who placed our waters... on the table said "excuse me" in the nastiest tone you can think of. We get the drinks and the bread. The bread was not verygood. Tastes like something you would buy from ShopRite so I honestly expect more from an Italian restaurant. Then, we had towait 20 minutes for anyone to notice we were ready to order our meal. Two of my friends in the party of nine told themanager/waiter (whatever he was) to skip him and he had a nasty attitude saying "I'll come back because I'm very busy" and theplace probably wasn't even half-packed. When he's done saying that, we cancel the order and just pay for drinks. My friend'sfiancee wrote on the check that he was rude (which he was) and we left. Then, as we are talking outside about what restaurant togo to next, the waiter/manager comes outside and starts yelling at us that "he does not appreciate the comment on the check,nearly causing a confrontation. Felt bad a bit because the cooks were outside after and we had to tell them what happened. Idon't write reviews ever, but if you have the time to come outside and yell at us about feedback and your cooks have the time tostand outside smoking, then you have time to up to give us quality customer service. Not our first visit. We've been loyal customers for well over 20 years. I and my family have celebrated many special occasions... at Mama Rosina's. The food and the service are always excellent. Tony is a marvelous host and always makes you feel at home. If you've never been there, you should give it a try. Read more
