We had our wedding at The Clifton and it was truly unbelievable. The service, food, drinks, rooms, entire property - everything... was perfect. Comfy beds, great amenities, easy check in/out process. The staff truly takes care of every little detail makingyou feel right at home. We live local and went for our anniversary dinner. The food was wonderful and the service was phenomenal. Starting with Sam at... the bar making drinks. They drinks and the great conversation we so good, we came back after dinner to enjoy a couple more. ThenKatie took care of us during dinner. Her recommendations were on point. It's great to have service by two professionals thatknow how to make a great atmosphere. We are already planning an overnight visit for a quick escape! Read more
I hosted a brunch for my bridal party here the day before my wedding. The rear sun porch was the perfect private dining space... for our group. The team at Clifton went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and the food they served was amazing. Anexcellent choice for private dining or a small event! Read more
Very charming estate with two beautiful old buildings (one federal-style mansion that is the main house and one "farm house").... Modern furnishings. Friendly staff. But be prepared for some issues with the amenities (toilet had issues flushing, even afterthey promised to send someone to fix it, sometimes very weak water pressure in the shower). There was no AC control panel foreach room in the farm house but rather one control panel in the hallway for all rooms (if you change the temperature for yourroom, it will change in rooms of strangers too). Since its an old house, the noise isolation of the rooms could be better. Ienjoyed staying there and would stay there again if I ever find myself again in Charlottesville. Read more

My wife and I stayed at The Clifton Inn for three nights to celebrate our anniversary. We were not disappointed! We stayed in... what is considered a junior suite and purchased the loyalty package, which includes a full breakfast, 3-course dinner, and abottle of wine each day you are there. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Our room was comfortable, clean, and metour expectations. The food was excellent! We both loved the breakfasts and dinners each day. We spent the day visiting wineriesso knowing we would not have to venture out for good food was nice! The customer service was exceptional! Every person we spoketo went out of their way to help us. I emailed them and within minutes Casey responded and answered all my questions. After someback and forth communication, I decided to book through Casey. It was the level of customer service that ultimately sold me onthe Clifton, and once on property they continued to impress me! We will definitely stay at The Clifton Inn again! Read more
I'm super bummed to leave this review. As a business owner myself, I think it genuinely matters how you make people feel even... before they pay you any money. My mother reached out multiple times to the Clifton sales team attempting to plan my bridalshower for this spring, which would've presumably been several thousand dollars paid to the hotel (suites, private dining space,food, drinks, etc.). Unfortunately, after a few back and forth emails, their team simply stopped responding. Based on thecorrespondence we did have, it seems like they were waiting it out to see if a wedding or other larger, more expensive eventwould be booked instead for the date we wanted. (And yes, this is after we were told the date was free.) We were told the hotelis meant for "weddings," rather than small events (which—hate to break it to them—likely won't get booked 5 months before anextravagant wedding), making us feel like revenue was the priority over great customer service. As repeat visitors of thehotel, we've had a couple rude, unpleasant experiences with their staff, but we tried to give them the benefit of the doubtbecause the hotel is gorgeous! This time though, I'm disappointed enough to just never go back again, or recommend it toothers. Ultimately, this is probably a business that needs a refresher on solid customer service and professional communication. Read more
