Reviews for The Chippy - Authentic British Fish 'n' Chips in Colorado Springs, CO
LOVED it! I took my mom here and we both got the cod. Perfectly fried flaky fish. The chips (fries) we're also very good.... Homemade. We got a side of curry sauce and it was delicious on the fries and fish. I also did some shopping in their littlestore and got some of my favorite British candies. Read more
I've lived in England off and on for 15 years and have eaten my fair share of fish n chips. I found this place by accident and... I'm happy I did. This is the closest you're going to get to true British fish and chips without going to England. They wereabsolutely great and cooked to order, which isn't the case at many English chippies. I was surprised they offered mushy peas aswell, which I declined. Super good food and really nice people. You can't ask for more! Read more
Not bad. I'm originally from England so I can definitely say this doesn't come close to British Fish & Chips in my opinion. The... fish was pretty flavorless, but was cooked thoroughly. The batter was too thick and very greasy, not like the traditionalBritish way of doing it. The chips didn't taste like British chips at all. Overall I'd give the meal a 5/10. There was a smallsection that has an assortment of British food products. They were extremely expensive. The 3 stars are mainly for the conditionof the place. The floors were incredibly sticky, the tables looked like they hadn't been cleaned all day. Feels like the ownerhas given up on the place a bit. Read more
Very surprised actually. I've been disappointed at other local establishments stating they have authentic fish and chips. ... Well, this is authentic fish and chips. The not so good part is the mushy peas tasted like they put malt vinegar in it. Couldn't finish them. Plus way too many chips but the cod, tasted fresh to me. Super flakey. Place was clean and the servicewas good. Will be back. Read more
Overall good. Would go back. Second time me. Got the Cod. Not too fishy. Tarter sauce was good, had a hint of dill to it and... normally I don't like tarter sauce. Got the "chips" (fries) extra fried. Much better this time, but I don't care for limpfries. They've got more seating now in the adjacent suite. Malt vinegar on the tables for you to use. Plus there is a miniconvenient store with snacks and treats from across the pond. Got a chocolate pudding to try. It was recommended by and employeeas one of his favorites. I have yet to try it Read more
First time visit. Places with a limited menu do things better, and The Chippy is no exception. The Cod is absolutely delicious.... Flaky, with a delicious, crispy crust. The chips are homemade and are a perfect accompaniment to the fish. Homemade tartar sauceis the best I've ever had. I will absolutely be back. EDIT: Went back again. Same thing. The best. Read more
Pretty authentic British chips, bangers and battered cod - served quickly and hot in a bare bones setting. The prices are on... the high side but it was worth it for the real taste of home. The place offered a fair selection of British goodies, chocolate, candies and biscuits. We came away well stocked up. We will be returning! Read more
First time there and honestly the fish and chips was great. I shared a large cod with my husband. The portion was perfect in... size. Large pieces of fish and a generous helping of fries. The cod was light and flakey, the batter was perfect. I loved thetarter sauce, great flavor. The lady at the front counter was very polite and helpful. Inside was nice and clean. Very pleasant. Not sure about the reviews about a dirty establishment... it was nothing like those reviews claimed. I'm looking forward togoing again for some great fish and chips. Read more
