When I first moved in town, this was my first dinner out. It is a casual food and casual service restaurant. And it was the... right food at the right price. So I was visiting regularly until, with the inflation situation being what it is, I noticed acompromise in their quality (so that the price would remain low, maybe?). I lost my confidence and have not visited for sometime, but I think it's time to try them out again. Read more
I can?t say enough good things about this place. The atmosphere is nice. I ordered the veggie omelette and a side of grilled... chicken? should?ve gotten the lean omelette but non the less amazing. I usually love Oakwood but was very disappointed yesterday. Ordered a plate for pick up and for $14 I got a spoonful of 2 sides... and a small helping of pot roast. The pot roast was pretty good but the squash casserole and corn casserole tasted bland andwell, like hospital food. Definitely not worth $14. Even if the food had been good, there was not much of it. My family is on a mini vacation in the area and decided to try Oakwood Cafe for dinner tonight based on menu and previous... reviews. It was exactly what we were wanting - casual, home style food. We were impressed that our food came out really fast!Service was good. Food tasted fresh and we all got our favorites. Three of us had dinner, drinks, and dessert for about $50. Read more
Been here a number of times and this is my take away. Good food and reasonable prices. Very and I mean very, comfortable... atmosphere. A staff that hustles(I love this). All of this comes together for a solid dining value. Kudos to the owner for a jobwell done. Read more
I came in with my fiancé for dinner after finding this place online. We are new to the area and love southern style/ home made... county food. Menu is simple but has enough options and some of my favorites. It starts with the waitress who walked up to ourtable and that?s it. No hi my name is , no what can I get you , nothing. She just stared at us with a hurry up and order so Ican leave look. This was a first for me and it was so uncomfortable. She takes our order after I greet her! I had questionsabout the menu but I felt like such a bother I didn?t dare ask. This continued throughout the entire meal but whatever I havehad bad service before and we were both starving and just wanted to eat. The pot roast was good and mashed potatoes seemed to behome made. The issue I have is with the pictures I posted of my sad looking okra and onion rings. It was all crumbs and limp. Ihave never seen an onion ring look this way or been served okra with all the breading burnt and falling off. I would never crossa place off based on one experience and hopefully the second time around we get a different waitress and better food. Iunderstand we all have an off day and this is why I?m counting on a second time. I probably would have given 3 stars based onjust food but it?s hard when the waitress makes you feel not welcomed. My son and myself stopped in for some supper while in Dalton and we were not disappointed the food was out of this world.... Delicious and the service outstanding. Some of the best food and service I've had in a long time will definitely be back. Thechicken livers are delicious! Read more
